Just wanted some opinions on this shot. The sun was just above the horizon. Is composition o.k. and any other thoughts. Cheers

To me, it looks a lil better with about 1/3 of left side cropped out... Right now, the left side brightness takes away from the subject... I have a dark sheet of paper I hold up to the screen to simulate cropping... Works really well...

Pretty good composition although I do agree with Don. You might also consider giving more room at the top of the stump. Looks a little tight there. 8-)

I have worked on the picture and instead of cropping I worked on the colour on the left. Also I had straightened the picture originally by cropping which caused me to lose a bit off the top...this time I used "skew" which helped prevent that. Let me know what you think of the changes. Thanks again for your comments.

Now that this is uploaded I don't like the color. My file copy is not quite that colour..much closer to the original I posted above.

I think it looks pretty good, the color looks okay with me and I like the space on the top of the trunk. 8-)

This is a lovely photo - I personally think the colour update is great - the emphasis is about the light from the sky onto the trunk and the beautiful colour the trunk reflects - the only thing I would do is to just lighten the shadow on the trunk and the forground so I could see more detail there. Of course on your screen that detail can most probably
be seen.

don't crop it. you loose the context. as is you see the surroundings of the subject. nice photo.

My vote is to leave it the way it is as far as composition, Clicker. But, I would either lighten the stump just one click, or darken it to look like a total silhouette. I prefer a little lighter though. But, still an excellent shot.
