I must be nuts for even mentioning this, but we need 10-15 pages of stimulation to get us away from politics. My wife went out and ordered me a 11 Pro as my trusty Samsung 3 bit the dust.... Never really gave phone cams a second thought until I started reading about the new 12 coming out and how it may portend a little game changing in the mirrorless world. No, I am not touting phone cams but it seems like phone cam technology is really on the move.... I still have to figure out my new 11 Pro but if anyone is interested read up on the 12... For what it offers to it's intended market (whatever that may be ) it seems like an amazing piece of equipment. Just a few thoughts; if interested do research, if not then don't. Maybe they sense a bigger market than that of the FB posters. No debate here, just passing on info. Have a great, safe day... Bob
The phone cameras have been gaining a lot of traction in the last few years. I just cannot give justice to the cost of one at all.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max will have an even better camera system. It’s due for release to preorder status on November 13th. It uses a LiDAR scanner to adjust the depth of field automatically.
Edit. Adding screen shot of camera info for the 12 max.
I keep suggesting a forum just for cellphone shooters. They are producing some really nice work. The idea would be that they could discuss techniques, apps &c., while sharing their work in the other fora.

I thought we had a section for everything that a photography could imagine but you are right we don't have one strictly for cell phones, excuse me, smart phones. Why don't you contact admin and see what he says. I think it's a good idea.
If you haven't, read this fstoppers article. It is about how DSLRs are going the way of SLRs while phone photography has bloomed. The article asks about and writes about how combining phone computational strengths, connectivity and mirrorless may lead to the next surge of compelling cameras.
If Sony, Nikon or Canon actually do it and do it right, I will buy a camera with larger sensor, better lenses, some version of the cloudy Lightroom built in and have it connected to my online portfolio.

Here is information on how to request a new section:
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/help/user_managed_sections.jspThe first step is someone needs to volunteer to manage it.
But don't look at me; I have a $5.00 flip phone 😀
Many of the volunteer-managed sections languish in obscurity; some of the reasons are mentioned in the doc I linked.
I will pre-order a 12 pro max to replace my 8+ on 11/6 when it's first available to order. The best feature to me is a 65mm f/2.2 camera with 2.5x optical zoom in. That's in addition to the ultra-wide and wide-angle cameras all of which sport larger 12mp sensors for better light gathering. It has LIDAR for low light AF and is 5G as well. I won't be giving up my dslrs any time soon, but may not need them as much for family events.

What would be the requirements for managing the Phone Camera Section?

Yes Linda, I NEVER would have spent the money myself.... I have a very generous wife. My Galaxy 3 served me well.... I was just blown away by some of the specs in the new 12; even stabilization, although only 2 axis at this time.

I have the 11pro max. Will definitely give to my wife after I get the 12. Will trade in her 11. Camera is really good. Most important thing to do is focus. Simply touch the screen until that little square appears and then hold it until “AE/AF LOCK” appears at top of screen. The exposure and focus is locked on your subject. You can even move that slider that appears next to that square up or down to lighten and darken Here is an example of flower in back yard

I find it odd that prices for the 11 and 12 aren't mentioned anywhere here. I don't know what they go for, but I think I'd pay a fair amount for the convenience of being able to take excellent pictures, say close to my Sony RX10 VII and have it with me at all times. I'll have to check into these now. How good are they?
They are still a very nice snapshot camera.

You got it. Man you could buy a really nice mirroless or DSLR camera with lenses for the price of an iPhone 12.
Yes the iPhone has some great features and lenses. I'll wait till the iPhone 13 comes out and maybe buy a 12 when the price comes down [way down]

I have the 11 Pro Max. When they come out with a real telephoto lens, not the 65mm that they call a telephoto, I will upgrade. In the meantime, I'm quite happy with the quality of the 11 Pro Max which I use with the ProCamera app.
