Seriously. ..Ritz was bought by Wolf (e?) camera. I don't know if any of them are still around, but it might be worth a check.
I agree that a repair is going to be as much or more than a new lens, but I also know that there are some things that, for one reason or another, we just want to keep operational...
I had forgotten about Ritz camera stores until my wife and I were doing some late spring cleaning. I came across boxes and boxes of negatives with the Ritz packaging that we had stored from some of our vacations pre-digital days. I really liked their cardboard boxes instead of the paper envelopes that most processors used. We used to have a Wolf camera store near us, but it closed a long time ago. In my early days, I did buy stuff from them. However, as I gained more experience in Nikon pro equipment, I never saw anything in there that really interested me enough to make a purchase because they were mostly a "newbie" store and sold really lower grade products that a pro wouldn't use.
I currently have an old 18-200mm lens from Nikon that is now very soft focus (loaned it to my son) and I am debating whether to spend the $250 that Nikon wants to refurbish it. I am thinking that the $250 would be better spent on the Z50 package. She, like me, wants to travel light and her D500 with a long lens is getting heavy on arthritis/rheumatoid hands.
