I'm confused by all versions of LR and PS available for download. Please explain the differences to me. Thank you.
I live out in the boonies and have very poor access to the Internet. I store my images on hard drives within my home. The two Adobe programs that I keep on my Dock are:
Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 and
Adobe Lightroom Classic CC
Periodically a window will open offering me the ability to download thing like:
Photoshop v 22.0
Lightroom v 4.0
Lightroom Classic v 10.0
I thought that by signing up for the CC versions my programs would be updated automatically with no need for me to do anything. Adding to the confusion, the LR and PS versions that I use have icons with square corners while the ones offered for download have rounded corners. Does that mean anything?
Please forgive my ignorance and confusion.
Adobe seems determined to not make purchasing and using their software easy. There's two clarifying questions needed:
1. What amount are you paying? As an individual photographer, you probably want the $9.99 / month plan.
2. How do you want to work with Adobe? Let's assume you desire the full-feature / full-function PS and LR software with your images stored on your computer harddrive.
Using the assumptions above, you'd want to download and install:
Photoshop desktop 22.0
Lightroom Classic v9 (or higher, if available)
The "20GB storage" is a work area for transferring images between your LR CC on your mobile device and your 'classic' LR desktop and primary catalog. You've probably recognized 20GB isn't even large enough to hold all the images from your typical 32GB camera card. That's because it's work-in-progress temporary storage, like long-term like the $21/month plan at 100GB ala Adobe Fresco.
I wonder what they mean by Lightroom v 4.0. The last stand-alone version was 6.0.
You have to turn on the auto updates in the creative cloud app. Look in your program list under A for Adobe. Once set up it will be automatic.
Thank you gentlemen. I just turned on ALL the auto updates. It's downloading as I type this message.
I have the $9.99 monthly plan.

Yes, and you will find there are TWO versions of LR in that package, at least there is in mine which is several years old now.
Lightroom Classic - the full desktop app
Lightroom - a light weight version for tablets, pads and smart phones. - Who in the name of all that is holy has the eye sight to edit on a smart phone? I have trouble reading phone numbers on mine. And after one week my new 32" monitor is looking normal, by next week it should be looking small to me. I have never down loaded "Lightroom".
