One of my favorite bands is a Canadian group. Here's what Rush has to say:
"The Trees"
There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

I can agree with Rush. I have worked as a logger and after I retired I worked in a fishing camp and we used the logging company's road for access and you'd be surprised to see the loads of wood they would haul out. It was sad as the law stated that they must leave a 50' stand around lakes, but they didn't in all cases and also when the cut conifers they would leave the aspen and white birch. The birch would die off in a couple of years because they need the ''comfort'' of surronding conifers. My friend runs a replanting business and this past summer his gang planted 1.4 million trees.
Asfor the axe and saw thing....not 100% with them because on privately owned lands, folks can manage their forests so as they last for generations. I had a maple syrup cabin for 20 years and I never cut a green tree, never. All I did was clean up broken branches and trees and windfalls. For 35 years now I have been heating 80% with wood and I use the same practice as I did at my cabin. There are more trees rotting out there than folks can imagine. I also will cut for folks who have a bad tree in their yard, did thre the other day.

I love bare trees.... I love to drive down a country road and look at them..... They have so much character and so many stories to tell...... I love how they bend and curl and reach for the sky.... Trees with beautiful leaves blowing in the wind are nice to look at, to listen to, but when the leaves are gone and they are standing before you, that is when you see the true beauty.... I realize that we are all from different places, and it may be difficult to find a tree with no leaves, but look a little deeper and see the ones that have been around for awhile and are nearing the end of their lives...Look at their beautiful, mature bones.....take a shot, and then share it with us.....
A song by van morrison while you look at the pics...Hope you enjoy it

I am really looking forward to seeing all the trees from all over. In grade school we had to learn a poem and the only line I remember is "only God can make a tree" I hope I don't get too carried away and send too many!
As I am working on this all of a sudden I have a problem and I can only get 2 photos to load so I am sending these and will try again for more....I have more trees I want to share!
Oh my, that first picture is stunning! The last picture is also very nice.
