I'm looking for a pop-up tent that's:
1. for 1 person,
2. camouflaged,
3. waterproof, and
4. has holes on more than one side that are big enough to fit a Nikon 500mm PF lens through.

Does anyone know of a tent filling these requirements?

Thanks.

Mark

Amazon has some - I got the 2 person pop-up for the extra room for my backpack and stuff... windows on 4 sides - a little cramped for 2 folks, but comfortable for 1...

Thanks. This one's water resistant but not waterproof. Not sure when water resistant starts dripping inside.

Ok - check this one out - might be bigger than you want but they say it's waterproof -

I've had good luck with Ameristep products. You can see some pin holes, but it has never leaked on me. Reasonable cost and durable. I had mine get blown into the duck pond twice, hauled it out and still working.

I lived in the PNW for 28 years and camped out a lot. Every tent I ever used in the rain would leak through if the tent touched the rain fly. The problem is you have water on both sides. The rain soaks through the rain fly and the interior of the tent gets soaked with condensation from your breath. When the two surfaces touch the water is conducted between them. About the only thing you can do on the Olympic Peninsula is camp in Sequim. :-}
Good luck

Rick

I honestly think this is a legit topic for main photography discussion. It's a blind for photo camouflage, the OP is asking for which one is best for their big lens. As legit as asking for monopod recommendations, in my view.

I received a Cabella's circular yesterday and they had 3-4 popup camo blinds. Looked to be about 4' x 4' x 4'.

The ones i have for camping, won’t fit the bill.
Perhaps you could try REI or Dick’s Sporting Good or even Campmore. Good lockozz...

Hi Tiny Tim,

I’m a long time lurker but this is a first response. I am also in the PNW and just went through this process.
After buying and returning about 5 blinds, I ended up keeping an Ameristep Gunner. I am 5’8” and there is about 6” over my head when seated on an 18” stool. It has windows on 3 sides and a door on the 4th - weighs only 4.5 lbs. I don’t know if it will be seriously waterproof- probably more water resistant. I did buy a short piece of camo netting from amazon to put over the lens when it sticks out. I use it with a tripod and 500PF or 80-400. I liked that this was smaller and lighter than the others I looked at. You can’t stand up in it but otherwise it is pretty roomy.
