Cloud Iridescence...a relatively rare phenomenon...
Visiting back home up north we experienced a rare phenomenon called cloud iridescence (rainbow in a thin cloud where the sun's rays catch a few droplets of ice crystals at a time and form a rainbow effect! Also beautiful sun sets in corn/bean country!
The second a third are worth downloading.
Nice. #2 is excellent. I've taken a couple of similar photos in the past.

Chuck and MT, I am getting pretty old and I have never seen the phenomenon in the clouds! Had to google it to find out what it was! :)
Absolutely beautiful captures, John! I saw this phenomenon last fall when airplanes were leaving vapor trails around sunset, but I didn't know what to call them other than rainbows.
Not sure if I will ever see one again. Thanks Donna for commenting!

I have a feeling you will, John, because you'll be on the lookout for them.
The sky is always such a beautiful canvas! Miss you my dear friend
I am not there but it could be what is called "Sun Dogs". They form from ice crystals when the sun is 22 degrees from the horizon. Usually two form one on each side of the sun.
