Looking into getting a camera harness. I go out two camera and am tired of missing shots because I had to changes lenses. I know some guys who use OpTech and some who use Black Rapid. The Black Rapid is the more expensive, about three times as much. Does anyone have experience with either or both and can make recommendations?

I MUCH prefer the Optech as it attaches to the camera lugs. Any strap that attaches to the tripod socket is a PITA as always causes issues. Also the manufacturers didn't design their cameras to be hung upside down from that tripod socket in the first place.

I have a BlackRapid that I use every time I go out with two cameras, which is pretty much always. I find it very handy as I can have one camera on each side, can access them quickly, and use them without unhooking them. It's lightweight and doesn't cover up much area so that my body doesn't sweat.

You might also consider a camera waistbelt. Just Google them and several come up. I really like mine because I can carry different gear (ie lenses in lens bags as well as camera) and it isn’t hard on my shoulders and neck. I have a bad neck, so every little bit helps.
For the camera, it does mount via the tripod screw, but has an additional quick release locking mechanism to insure the camera can’t fall.

I only have experience with OP/TECH USA.
I have three of their straps and they are all great so I never had to try another brand.
They are very well thought out and well made. You can configure them to suit you and the price is right.

I do wildlife photography and so carry two camera's. I hand hold one because I have to be ready to shoot anytime. I use the spider holster for the other one.

Cotton Carrier also makes a really nice two camera system. I use it when I am on my bike with a long lens in Loxahatchee National Preserve. I only carry one camera then, but if I am on a long hike, this is the system I use. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Hmm. That's exactly the reason that I dropped OpTech for Black Rapid. Never seen a better shoulder grabbing strap than my Black Rapid.

Agreed. I’ve used my Black Rapid strap on several trips. It does an excellent job. It also provides an extra layer of security against the snatch and run crowd that are common in big cities like Paris.

I have no experience with Black Rapid, but I have been using a variety of OpTech products for a dozen years or so. I have never had a problem and they provide all the carrying functionality that I have ever needed.

SO: Black Rapid - no experience or comment.
OpTech - strongest possible endorsement

Holdfast money maker. Designed more for wedding photogs but works for anyone needing quick access. I use one that holds 3 bodies. They make leather and what that call vegan leather (Poly I'm sure). Good quality stuff.

I have been using a Black Rapid strap with my cameras for several years now.

I have a Black Rapid Arca Swiss plate on my camera that slides into arca Swiss clamps on my tripods. The carabiner on the strap connects to a foldable D connector on the plate when not on a tripod. Works great.

Can we see a picture of that set-up.

Thanks.

If you follow shotkit.com which shows the camera gear of working professionals, particularly bridal types, the hands down winner for dual cameras is the holdfast moneymaker. expensive, but must be worth it.

I have several Black Rapid straps. Like them all. They can be configured as a single or double to hold one or two cameras. These are better than typical neck straps, but your shoulders can feel the cameras’ weight after a few hours. One issue is that while your cameras hang at hip height and at the ready, they will swing a bit if you do a lot of bending down, etc. Overall, still a great system. The other system which I have grown to like even better is the Spider Holster belt. It too can handle one or two cameras. They attach via a bracket system at hip height, but are secured by a very comfortable belt. Cameras are easily obtained to shoot and do not swing around when you bend over or reposition yourself. Best of all, the weight of the cameras are supported at your waist. I shoot sports and go all day without feeling fatigue from their positioning. If cost is an issue, start with the single bracket and add the second a bit latter. Good luck!
