I have always wanted to photograph the small seashore birds that feed on the beach at the water's edge. Sanibel always seems to be blessed with plenty of those small birds, so I went there with that mission. Some are fast runners who chase the waves as they recede and then race back to shore with their little legs just a blur as the waves come back in. Fun to watch all of this play out.

Hope you enjoy these infrequently captured birds in download.

Great set of images!!!

Wow, GREAT shots Hereford ! - How did you get so low ?? .........thanks for sharing

I slit open a plastic garbage bag so I could lay on my belly on the beach. On my first try my back complained violently, so I shot the rest sitting hunched over. Hand holding the big sigma 150-600 was the big challenge for this 82 year old guy.

Lovely Shore Birds....wonderful set . I love them as well especially when the waves chase them inland as you mentioned ,earlier. Delightful creatures and always a joy at the beach.

A well done set Hereford! Shorebird id is a challenge for me and so is photographing them at this low angle. I read your tip about the garbage bad ground cloth, good idea but I might need a friend to help get me back on my feet. This is good work.
