The taller one is the Canon 500 f4, the other is a Canon 400 F4 DO
God only knows how tough U have it:-) I hope U have a really good tripod & perhaps a gamble head like the RRS one.
I have a 600mm Nikon & I had a really hard time getting it positioned on my ball head. (It's god awefull heavy) I do need a good gimble head.
I bought an old 600mm lens to shoot the total solar eclipse, but I hadn't realized how fast the sun moves relative to a 600mm lens. I couldn't get the camera centered on the intersection of the sun & moon, all while looking through a solar filter. I came away covered in sweet & frustrated.
It's not so hard to aim & focus on non-moving subjects
Have fun, Jay

I have a Gitzo tripod with the Wimberley Gimble head, and a Gitzo monopod with the Wimberley Monogimble head. Love both setups, but prefer hand holding when I can.
I know I would pass on using either one. Too much to handle.

Not enough information to make a intelligent decision.

Yikes.
$$$
I know a professional wildlife photographer and she does not even
own Canon lenses that long, she rents them when she goes on assignments. Fast 800mm, on up and the like. Say for Polar Bears and Lions.
I can barely hold my 100-300mm Zoom steady handheld. But since I mainly photograph flowers I am more at home with a 100mm Macro Lens on a tripod.
Were Gonna need a bigger camera !!!! Maybe You should launch it !!
