A lizard has been living near my poo, so I asked it to pose for a telephoto face-off. Here are the results:
Sony A9 with Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary 020.
Fujifilm XT-3 with XF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR
Canon RP with 800mm f11 IS STM (also used Canon Extender RF 2x)

The lizard stayed quiet during the shoot with Sony and Cano. But it moved much closer when I got the Fuji.
The new Canon at 800mm is surprisingly lightweight but it is a very long lens, so handheld I thought the photos were soft. I couldn't shoot handheld at 1600mm, had to use the tripod and was surprised how sharp the lens is!

The new Sigma was disappointing because of the autofocus which is quite slow and not very accurate.

The Fuji combo is top-notch and a pleasure to hold.

Enjoy!

Most excellent set.
Really appreciated the RP and 800mm + 2X combo and your comments on it.
Would like to see many more shots with just the 800mm in various situations asthat lens really got my interest since Canon is now making a 20 stop DR sensor that when scaled up is equal to a 45 mp sensor that is good down to .08 lux.

Wow ! The new Canon RF 800mm even at 1600mm has produced a sharp picture. Granted have to use a tripod because it is now at f22. Interesting. Thanks for the posting.

I didn't know they were attracted to that.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Great shots of the little fella.

Our cats used to do that when they wanted to come in. It was always a shock to them when I put the storm windows up.

Indeed, great pictures.
My mother in law is afraid of the lizard that has the red bag under the chin! She went gardening and came back into the house in 5 minutes as if she had seen a dinosaur!
Just for the record, I have a very good relationship with my mother-in-law, in fact it is so good my wife complains her mother is always on my side

Please check your spelling before you submit your pics. I was thinking "why would anyone take a picture of something with their "poo". Yuck! lol

Impressively sharp detail with the 800mm. Thanks for the interesting study.

We were visiting people on Barbados, and it was amusing to watch the lizards climbing on the walls - inside the house.

We had an Iguana that lived inside our hooch in VN - ate bugs. The only issue is that once in a long while, he’d lose his grip and fall onto an unsuspecting GI’s bunk, which can literally be a rude awakening if the hapless GI was sleeping without a mosquito net.
