Years ago, I used HP programmable calculators -- beginning with the 29C and finishing with the the 41C. It was the head-to-head competition with Texas Instruments that made them affordable.

Today, the market is blessed with the across the board quality of products -- while the current capabilities of the products and capability/convenience of cell phone cameras make it harder for users to justify frequent upgrades. Hence, a diminishing market, fewer models, and consolidating support.

It is the competition that keeps them and the accessories affordable.

How many of us have a skill set that exceeds the capability of our tools?

I still have my original HP 41C that I bought for $235 back in 1975 (I think). But over the years the el-cheapo plastic case literally turned to goo and so I had to toss it out. But I have all the documentation and manuals. It took me some doing to get used to the "reverse polish notation" but I felt the build quality of this 41C was far superior to TI.

The same reason some people buy a new car when the existing one is perfectly fine.

I remember purchasing a TI 95, I believe this model and it cost a $100.00, now with these same features maybe 5 bucks.

You do not get CHG_CANON's humor obviously.
Perhaps you got up on the wrong side of the bed.

How true! I've decided to give all my possessions away, buy an EOS R5, and go to a monastery in Tibet.

One thing I like about the EOS R5 is the appearance. It looks like a real camera (a DSLR).

You'd have to be a nitpicker to choose one over the other in this test. Any one of them would do me fine.
