Double edged razors? Not obsolete.
So I looked on the web and there does seem to be a lot of info on the topic of making a razor blade last longer. We all learned to rinse our stainless steel blades in hot water as we were told back in the 1960s when the Wilkinson Sword blades came out. The old blue steel blades were rinsed in cold water! The point is to flush any residual face gunk that might be on the edge. The problem then is to get rid of any residual moisture as that will pit the edge of the blade. So shake it out, then dry it gently on a towel before putting it away. Some like to run a blow drier over it! Maybe I'll try that.

I still use my straight razors. That new fangled technology still scares me.
Have you seen the new ones? My new razor has replaceable single edged razor blades. I'm getting a fillet glove before I mess with it again.

Not sharp enough. After a good hone and stropping my thief’s issard or dovo is much sharper and safer.

So true but you need to talk to my right side so I can hear you.
I was considering the Merkur at one point but I seem to recall that the blades we proprietary, expensive, and I had to get them at a knife store. The one's I use are the same one's that have been used for over 100 years. (Those Gillette 10 (9?) ones are great, but if they get out of alignment (from dropping them in the sink) they "chatter", and that will rip you a new one. I was going to buy a "cutthroat" at one time, but my barber talked me out of it. He said that there was a steep learning curve. I'm open to trying Harry's.
