Dude, just embrace that story as true and feel the kindness, patience and love for that relationship. Then look at our current impatient aggressive society and consider what it would be like to live with a black telephone and Information Please. Also know that there are other worlds to sing in.

This brought back great memories. I grew up in Southern California and when I was in high school, my friends and I would call the long distance operator in Nova Scotia. We'd usually call about 3 AM her time on Saturday or Sunday morning and she loved chatting with us as there wasn't anything going on work wise for her at that time. So sad progress has brought us automated responses vice the human touch
