Another one I forgot to mention! Gladiator was great and while on the subject, Ben Hur also and has not been mentioned or maybe I missed it.

"Some Like It Hot" is a true classic with Marilyn at her sexiest best. The scenes of her in the upper bunk on the train with Jack Lemon thinking he was a girl are hot and funny at the same time. Can you imagine having Marilyn Monroe bouncing around with you in your bed and not being able to touch her because she thinks your a girl. The last scene in the film with Joe E Brown when he says "Nobody's Perfect" is just so funny.

[quote=LWW]And how did everyone miss this ...
.

I LOVE that movie. I have the DVD. Tho IIRC, it was Bela's last movie.
The cops show up. Blahblah. They give chase in a Chevy, @ noon (shadows).
The cops pull over 20 minutes later- in a Ford. It's maybe 3pm (shadows).
Cut to bad guys. Creeping towards the camera. In a cemetery. It's foggy. @ midnight.
And the race is on!

It disgusts my wife, who is quite a bit younger and more staid than I.
Especially when she sees that I've got the kids cheering on the monster. He's limping thru the woods.
They're hi-speed driving thru the desert. He catches up. Right behind them! "Get em! Get em!"
I am easily entertained. That shark movie "The MEG" is a romantical comedy.
I really enjoy bad movies. Spooky movies. Especially old, bad, spooky horror drive in movies.
60s drive in. 20 minutes- front seat. 30 in the back. Get up front. We didn't miss a thing. Saw the ending.

Another good bad (but waay better) movie is "Spider Baby". It's great!
Lotsa good names in the cast. The brand-name known scary guy- is the only "normal" person.
Or "Spider Island" a few years before. Take out the girls tho and there's not much left,
Killer Shrews. Happy little treat-following tail-wagging dachshunds in fake fur throws. Deadly Eyes.
Laters: Poultry Geist, Night of the Lepus, Flesh Gordon, the Sharknados and Nukem Highs, Zombie Strippers and Warm Bodies, Slither and Creeps- and Frankenhooker is the classic.
Just agree- and accept- that they're bad, and enjoy the show.

I can't believe my three all-time favorites were not mentioned: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Scent of a Woman" and "Life is Beautiful".

Oops, old age creeping up -- earlier I had a movie The Lion and the Darkness -- should have been "The Ghost and the Darkness". This was a fantastic film filled with suspense and a great ending that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Anyone that has not seen this film staring Michael Douglass should do so. It did not seem to get the attention it deserves as few people I know are familiar with it.

My wife is complaining that these lists all reflect the preferences of old men. Where are the « chick flicks » and « hunk » films? Sigh, I guess it’s our primary demograpic, unfortunately.

If your wife likes chick flicks, in addition to the three I named earlier, have her watch "Milk Money", "Heaven Can Wait", and the "Goodbye Girl" -- especially the last one.

There are not enough romantics in this group! Ann of Green Gables, the version with Megan Follows, can be viewed 10-20 times and still leave you with a warm smile and tears in your eyes. Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour with a beautiful site and wonderful music. Random Harvest with Ronald Coleman and Greer Garson(her favorite movie). Riders of the Purple Sage with Ed Harris and Amy Madigan(his wife).

A tip of the hat to the old Republic studio westerns which helped shape many of our "yuttes" Ride with Roy, Gene, Hopalong and the Cisco Kid watching truth and justice prevail - and providing endless years of victory in trivia games after Superman, Flash Gordon and Batman reigned supreme.
