Think of it this way. You have 1 camera and a backup. No need to change anything

I have a 5Dc and a 40D that I started with before switching to full frame. Looks to me as if I'm good with one camera and a backup. Well, actually, two cameras one of which is a backup. :-)

I own a DSLR (Nikon D850) and a mirrorless camera (Fujifilm X-T3) and I vacillate between the two when thinking about whether I could live with just one system. Often I'll take say a bird photo with the Nikon, using the 600mm Sigma, and marvel at the speed of focus and the ability to crop in really close and get a good shot that fills the whole frame. Then I'll take some shots with the Fuji and marvel at the great colours and the fantastic resolution. If we disregard the weight advantage of the mirrorless and the (questionable) advantage of being able to see the image before you take the photo then it comes down to IQ.

So I decided to shoot the same shot with both cameras, making everything as equal as possible, using good quality lenses for both, and then compare. Both shots were taken in the kitchen, on a tripod, with small apertures, low ISOs and 10 second SS. The Nikon has the advantage of a low ISO 64.

There's not a huge amount in it but the winner is clearly the Nikon (and rightfully so given it's FF status and high megapixel count) but if you didn't have both images side by side to compare I don't think it would be clear cut. They are very close.

So it looks like I'll continue to vacillate :-)

So you are basing the usability of two cameras on ONE photo? Anecdote is not a synonym for data.

Hobbit,

The swcond / bottom shot looks better to my eye. The first one has some blue haze.

Which is which?

I went with a 4/3rds myself becayse of the physical heft of my Sony Alpha.

It's not hard to detect good luck. To most people, it looks like a full-frame camera.

The premise of that argument is that the size of the sensor is the only determinant of quality and usability. That is equivalent to saying , "The only thing that makes a woman attractive is the size of her boobs!" Clearly a measure of the quality of the speaker, not of the woman!

I love your response!!!
But you are taking the whole thing way too seriously.
I know you could not see where my tongue was when I made that comment because it was firmly planted in my cheek.

What is in a name? Would a rose smell so sweet if not captured in its full frame glory?

Well, the fact is that real men and real photographers find certain features of, both, women and cameras indispensable. For cameras that applies to full frame sensors. . . .

Spurious equivalency.

Better to compare to something truly functional and structural, like pelvis size. For tens of thousands of years in which a generous birth canal meant less risk of death to both mother and child, that very visible physical aspect was viewed as desirable and thus attractive.

Acoarst I wasn’t there at the time but I’ve seen the images and carvings that inform us across the millennia.

If that is the case how would eligible bachelors determine birth canal size before proposing?
