, and probably never will be 3rd party inks in the long run are not economical as the printer usually more times than not fails because of non OEM inks and you are faced with replacing it . Just look at the people here complaining of clogged heads and asking how to clean them . The web is full of them .. there is a problem with theses inks.. whether one admits it or not . It also takes maintenance I run 4 inch test strips on my older printer every 3 days whether I print a job or not... because of the technology of years past sitting is the worst thing for it. Most printers like this 7 year old machine have capping stations and ink builds up on the platten face and does not create a good seal and nozzles dry out over time ...unless used regularly . One thing in Canon inks to solve this is Glycerin to slow the drying of inks I very seriously doubt third party ink producers have picked up on this and I doubt they care . The biggest thing I know for a fact is most of this inks being made are coming from just a few makers and bought in bulk and labeled by sellers calling them their own ... inks.. not caring what machine it goes in ..
I was trying to tell you small desktop printers ar... (show quote)

Nikonbrain, as much as I enjoy discussing this with you, I think that after this reply to you I am done. Quite frankly, I don't like your tone, I don't like your insinuations, I don't like your holier than thou I know more than you or anyone else who differs with me attitude.

1) I never said "small desktop printers" were meant to be economical on ink. I also said that I don't trust any third party inks except Precision Colors' inks, that their print quality seems to be excellent, they haven't caused me any problems in two years, and they are much cheaper than OEM inks. So until my Pro100 fails--for which I paid net $59--mine is more economical using this 3rd party ink. You claim they fail "more times than not." Please provide your documentation. I am simply saying this board is also filled with people saying theirs has not failed using 3rd party inks. You don't believe in them, and want to believe ALL 3rd party inks are bad. Fine. I encourage you to keep not using them.

2) I said that I have seen posts by numerous people who have said that they never had any print head clogging with third party inks, particularly not with Precision Colors inks. Your experience was different. I already said I accept that. But by saying "whether one admits it or not," to me you are insinuating that I know you're right, but I don't want to admit it, because I'm stubborn and you know me better than me. I resent that. You are not in my head; you don't know what I REALLY think.

3) I'm sure you're right, a major problem is printers sitting without being used. JToolman has said that too. He says these guys were made to be used. Ok. So your advice to people should really be that you need to print something with them every few days, even if it's just a 4x6. Like you said, "unless used regularly." You seem to be doing that even though you use OEM inks. If they're so foolproof, why are you doing that still? Seems you actually don't trust OEM inks, either, not to clog your print heads.

4) I totally agree with you, "most of this [sic] inks being made are coming from just a few makers and bought in bulk and labeled by sellers calling them their own." And "I do know for a fact" (as you like to say) that the maker of Precision Colors inks does not fall into this category. He says the same thing you do about other 3rd party ink sellers. As a result, he formulates his own inks. You might want to go back to JToolman's YouTube channel and look for his interview with Precision Colors' inks owner from about a month ago, and another one about two weeks or less ago. He says everything negative you do about other ink distributors/manufacturer's inks, and discusses why his are different. Given your damning critique about ALL third party inks I suggest it's something you should do. You might find it enlightening, "whether one admits it or not."

5) I don't know if Precision Colors ink has glycerin in them or not. But since you're particularly invested in making sure we all come to the same conclusion about how certain it is that their inks are as inferior as all other 3rd party manufacturers, why don't you call him and ask him? His number is on his site. His name is Mike.

Just please stop busting our b**ls about what seems to be your hot topic. At least not without being transparent and telling us you're on a vendetta, or that "this is my opinion, but I recognize that others may have a different and equally valid opinion."

Signing off about this now.

Remember nikonman lives in St.Pete Fla....the Chrome Virus capital of the US. My Canon Pro 100 is now chugging along with Precision Colour inks since the Oem inks we’re depleted...
