My Great-Grandmother, who had been born in Georgia, told me stories about alligators when I was a wee small child. My take on those ‘gators was that they lived under my bed, but could not come out when the lights were on. The solution was to leave the bed by leaping so as to hit the light-switch before touching the floor. I expect that Meth-Gators’ jumps would have been higher and faster than small-boy leaps were, and that I would never have survived into my forties, when I explained the reason for each morning’s bumping and crashing to my [still] worried parents.

I'd prefer to live in an alligator-free neighborhood.

Difference between an alligator and a crocodile is that one says "see you later" and one says "after while".

I was scared of the dark for years, because my big brother told me that scorpions live in the dark. He neglected to explain that scorpions don't live in the north of England...!

Hmmmm! In today's world, that could be construed as racist. Alligator Lives Matter!

All statues of alligators need to be torn down, any reference to alligators in books must be banned, each city must have an "Alligator Safe Zone" and we need to kneel for 9 minutes each time the folks on "Swamp People" kill one... (and for the liberals reading this, it is intended as satirical so don't get your panties in a twist...)

I LOVE all of nature, except for the things that want to kill me or eat me.

And which is the one we have to be afraid of?

I may catch some flack, but listen to Bill Cosby's "Chicken Heart" routine. Kinda like your great grand-ma's story.
