Both of my boys are Eagle Scouts. The USA was the only country in the world that did not have coed scouting.

Why did the girls want to become a part of the BSA when they had their own organization? Were the Girl Scout programs not meeting the needs of these young girls/women? If not, then their leadership should of adopted programs/activities that would attract these girls to their organization. If they didn't like the GS program, then why not create/organize their own program and taylor it to their needs. Why co-mix? What happened to separate but equal?

I was in BSA. My sisters were in Brownies and Girl Scouts. My sons were in BSA with one achieving Eagle. The BSA & GS programs were designed to help children/youth to become well rounded individuals as they mature into adults by introducing activities and skills that they might not of been available to them through their school programs or family life.

I wasn't thinking that my original comments would spark such an interesting discussion between everyone.

I'm enjoying being able to have this dialog in a respectful manner with opinions presented on both sides. It may not change my opinion on the subject but it's good to participate in this discussion.

Sorry! They were forced to allow faggots to be scout leaders............Helen Keller could have seen what a mistake that was but liberalism prevailed, now one of Americas greatest young man's groups has been destroyed. I was a member for 12 years and always had great times.

Your assessment is dead wrong. The abuse of the young scouts was not done by gay leaders - it was done by pedofiliacs. Equating that perversion with homosexual behavior is dead wrong.
