If people don't see the jaw-dropping impact in these, well, there's simply no hope for you 🙄

Learn the limitations, such as dynamic range or low-light issues or how large you can print, as mentioned - just as you would with any camera that's not top tier.

Yes you are right. The camera companies have also seen the impact that cell phones have taken on their bottom line.
These pictures are top shelf. I'm sure the envy of most DSLR users.

What do you expect from a forum with members whose average age is 80? 😀

(and by that I mean rigidity and refusal to consider/accept advancing technology and what it means to be a "photographer" in 2020, and beyond)

Is that why most are so cranky??

Exactly.

The big problem I have in my cell vs. full frame considerations is the lack of pixels. If you do not plan on much enlargement or PP, a cell is not a problem, but cropping, etc. can be a problem with a cell camera.

Linda, I looked at the images made with cell phones you posted via a link. No questions in my mind, those are images of excellent photographers.
Modern cameras are very convenient with their technologies and interchangeable lenses. A cell phone is always available.
I looked at the photographs and I keep on saying that it is the person behind the camera who makes the images.

My cousin's daughter has a google pixel phone which takes phenomenal pictures. The images from that phone blow me away. In many instances a cell phone's camera will suffice but in other instances a DSLR or mirrorless is the way to go. It shouldn't be a battle of one against the other. As far as which one to take my advice would be that you need to make that decision based on your experience with both.

An artist can capture beauty with any camera. The rest of us need the best camera.

I want something that will spit out raw files so I can process them in Lightroom. I don't own a cell fone and so I don't know if they generate raw files but my guess is that they don't.

There MIGHT be technically, but as far as your individual reality goes if YOU can't see the difference it doesn't matter. WAY too many people are WAY too concerned about what everyone else is doing or saying.

My wife's Note 4 lens protector was shattered, so she sent off for a new one for $5. When I installed it, (piece of cake!) I was amazed at how tiny the actual lens was; 50-100 of them could fit into a thimble, yet the photos she takes with it are amazing! I still prefer my D750, but often ask her to send me a photo she got that I didn't.

It must be a first on this (frequent) topic. So far... no "real camera" phrase used yet.

Your camera is only as good as you can use it.

I have a Samsung s20 ultra which has the awesome camera and I compared the pictures taken with DSLR with prime lenses. Used the same subject, lighting and background.
To my naked eye, there's not much difference. Have any of you noticed that phenomenon? In that case, may be I should just carry my cell phone for vacations etc..

Old issue, no new information. Same old, same old.
DSLR's give better results in select shooting environments.
Cell phones take snap shots, DSLR's record images.
For the amateur, cell phones will do wonderful things, this is unchanged, they will continue to rival DSLR's for general ho hum images.
For the advanced amateur and professional photographers, cell phones just don't cut it in unique shooting environments.

No one is asking, that I can see, what are the final results, or where will the final photos from each be viewed? Are they in ideal shooting situations or low light? Are we looking at the images from the phone, on the phone, tablet or computer screen? Or, are we cropping, post processing and printing?
