this thing screams. I turn it on and 30 seconds later its running. My old machine would take 90 seconds to boot and a minute to load LR. Now I blink and its loaded. Its set up for raid, but don't think I'll use it that way. All I can say is "wow, This this is fast".
Looks good to me. Congratulations!

Yup..... I'm happy.... I'm running win 10 pro now instead of home.
I’m trolling around as a pharmacist and in my spare time being a hobbyist. As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, I’m very busy keeping others from getting sick. My wife does the same. My daughter is currently on furlough from Fredonia University. She is studying to be a music teacher. She had to learn her ninth and tenth musical instrument on line. She also learned to conduct orchestras. My son is on furlough from Virginia Tech. He is defending his PhD dissertation on engineering physics. I don’t understand it because it IS rocket science to me.

Isn't it an 'oh my freakin' heck' revelation to suddenly have a screamin' good machine? No clue what you had previous, but that hardly matters, does it? Proof in the pudding comes when you want to whack that 13th layer in Ps with some weird adjustment and it happens, almost instantaneously.
Personally, I grieve for folks who try to 'get by' with doing "serious imaging" on their underpowered laptops or their iPads. Given the specs you mentioned, I apparently don't need to grieve for you.
If you would of used the M.2 Slot for your boot drive rather than the SSD Sata port. You system would of been even faster. The M.2 Slot is about 5X faster than the Sata interface. ( if you use NVMe drives )
There are also adapters for motherboards that don't have a slot for the newer drives. They are inexpensive and plug into a pci express slot.

I know absolutely nothing about computers - NOTHING! Is this an off-the-shelf machine or is it a custom built computer ? Just curious. I have a dell and it is a real POS.

I had it built up my specs..... The local (I didn't know existed) had an add for a having at $500. I went in, met the people, liked them and the shop and had them put it together for me. Other than ram, it's over and above adobe specs.

I had an old hp pavilion. Worked, but slower the molasses. It's what I had when I started editing. But it was running slow and hot, so hot it would crash sometimes..... Wow, what a difference.

Did you put it all together yourself or buy it all set up? If you bought it, who is the dealer?

My daughter graduated from VT! Great school in several disciplines (she did not go into engineering).

So many times, we read of someone who is desperately hanging onto a 8 year old machine.
They want to know how best to upgrade it to a 4 year old one, thinking they can save money.
They refuse to accept the fact that the evolution of the machine has been exponential.
They cannot comprehend how much better computers have become.
When they finally get close to one they are utterly amazed.
Welcome to the world of modern computers.
