Thanks! My daughter likes this one as well - says it looks like a graduation picture, even though he's only 13. He took up the instrument about four months ago and is already playing the Lord of the Rings theme by ear!

Thanks! I like the mellow sound of a cello, although not any of Bach's compositions for it - they all sound like finger exercises!

Very nice set of pictures.
It's good to see a young kid interested in playing the cello.
But because I was a professional musician and teacher (retired)... I must ask you to have his teacher instruct him in the proper way to hold his bow. It will help him play better.

These days, he may not be able to get his lessons. But if you Google "how to hold a cello bow"... there are videos that can at least start him on the right track. The correct grip will give him more flexibility with his bow hand. It has to be very stiff right now.
I was a trumpet player. But did study some cello while in the Air Force stationed in Waco, TX.... in the mid-50s at Baylor U. I studied in your state... at Oberlin.
