That MtnMan has completely proven himself to be an bigoted idiot is without question (I wonder if he demands to eat at Chic fil-a on Sundays?) but my question is why the heck did this 7 year old post get regurgitated here?

I agree. There could also be other factors.
They could do their weekly inventory, so as not do it on Sunday.
They could do it to give some workers a break.
Many cultures start their week on Sunday- this could redo their website and start fresh,
Plus it's a website! Most don't really need someone looking at it to work.
I live in LA,CA. We get Chinese, Japanese, Korean Jewish, Mexican and Black holidays.
Roll with it.
I grew up in Philly, dated Jewish on occasion. Including two girls named Einstein.
No, they don't go sideways.

I just tried to order something from B&H. Their site told me they don't accept online orders till 7PM on Saturday. I understand the reason: they are Jewish and observing their Sabboth. While I agree that in the U.S. they are welcome to do so I am also welcome to not have them impose their religious beliefs on me. So I'll never try to order from them again.

This is just for information. I fully expect everyone in the U.S. to be free to make their own decisions on this type of thing.

I won't have my wife wear a burrkah either.

Seven yrs later and 54 pages, this still stings.

Sorry, but you fully deserve what I am about to say.

You are stunningly ignorant.

In the Orthodox Jewish faith they typically do not work from 2 hours before sundown Friday evening, to after sundown on their Sabbath, which is Saturday. This is practicing religious freedom - and if you think this practice is imposing "Religion" on you, you are some special kind of individual - entitled, ignorant, and anti-semitic.

Do you eat at Chick-fil-A? They are closed on Sundays. I live in Delaware and often go to Dover for the produce from the Mennonite and Amish farming community. They do not conduct business on the Sabbath - Sunday in this case - either. I don't see this as an imposition at all. I just work around it. It's not always all about you.

Sorry, another sign of your complete ignorance is the comment about making your wife wear a "burrkah" - Certain Muslims wear berqas, Jews do not, other than a a very small ultra-orthodox sect. Muslim women may also wear a niqab, hijab, chador or dupatta - depending on their beliefs and ethnicity. Maybe you should learn about stuff before criticizing it.

I am certain B&H won't miss your pennies.

I am not going to apologize if I offended you. I found your post completely offensive and I will contact that admin to report it as inappropriate. Have a nice life and bless your heart . . .

The age of the original post does not matter. Bigots and haters have been around for a long time and unfortunately enough, they still exist and will be around for the foreseeable future. The racial unrest that is ongoing currently goes back to the era predating the American Civil War. The Hollicost, comparatively speaking, is recent history. Hate, genocide, and all that relates to it is still ongoing all over the world. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe it's the year 2020!

Oftentimes bad and even tragic occurrences lead to better things. The despicable and murderous events of the last few months have to give rise to righteous and widespread protest. Even here on this rather small forum community, it's heartening to see that folks do not tolerate bigotry, hatred, and intolerance and step up and speak out against it.

I am not interested in revenge or "banning" people- I wish no harm or discomfort to anyone. It's a free country with free speech and the folks who spew hatred bring disdain upon themselves when they show their true colors. The people that put stuff like that online would not have the guts to say those things to your face. The cowards who march with torches and burn crosses in public adhere to gang-mentality. One to one, they are weaklings.

In the US the bigotry began with the enslavers in 1619 when the first boatload of kidnapped, enslaved people were delivered to their barracoons in Jamestown VA. So EL, it is a bit older than that. Still, there is no choice here. Such willful ignorance and unfounded hatred should be called out and banished. Free speech is one thing - and this is addressed in the first amendment as "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." which just about covers the government's involvement in free speech. What it does not address is some idiot being hateful on a forum post. We need to deal with that on our own. Shame on the UHH administrators for allowing this thread to remain on their servers. They should know better.

I have been well aware of the policies of B&H and I respect their right to religious freedom. I know in advance when I can place an order and I know the holidays when I can't place an order. It is a minor issue to my way of thinking. It takes a little brain to object to their choice.

This is a Jewish run business. They have a right to honor their Sabbath. It's called religious freedom. They are not imposing their beliefs on you. I respect their right to not sell on Saturday. I'm not Jewish. It doesn't matter. B&H has the lowest prices in the World. And they have a 30 day return policy. No other place does that. I've been buying from them over 30 years. If you don't want to buy from them It's your loss, they are not going to cry about losing your paltry offerings. Keep your negative religious opinions to yourself. This is a photography forum. Thank you!!!

They are not imposing their religion on anyone. You are free to shop elsewhere.

How do you feel about Christian businesses choosing to not serve gay people in the name of religious liberty? At least BH is not discriminatory--they won;t d business with anyone during the Sabbath.

btw, there is more to UHH than photography. You are currently in The Sewer, I mean The Attic - which is mostly about political lies. There is also General Chit-Chat section for those who aren't addicted to insulting each other all day long.

Sorry. I'm not Jewish-- and I'm not a participant in any organized religion, but I couldn't disagree with you more. I applaud their decision. What is so wrong about delaying your purchase by 24 hours? <rhetorical question-- doesn't require an answer... just some thought>
