Why doesn't Trump wear a mask?

My question was serious. In light of all the scientific and medical recommendations, Trump refuses to wear a mask, and I thought some one might have a reason for that.
I am not talking about the Oval office (and you know that), I am talking about his saying "I don't see it for myself"; and his indisputable refusal to wear a mask at times that every other American would be---out of consideration for those around him. We wear a mask not to infect others. He is very true that he does nor wear a mask when he should, and that was the gist of my serious question. "He doesn't see it for himself, "I just don't".

Why doesn't he he "see it" for himself is the heart of the question. Why, Why, Why doesn't he wear a mask to set an example of the right thing to do? Saying he doesn't "see it" is not a meaningful answer.

Is it because he is vain, and fears that it might make him look silly; or some other valid, legitimate reason? And now with a surge, and many mayors mandating masks in their cities for all citizens , is Trump too proud to reconsider?
You speak of hypocrisy that I don't I see. What is hypocritical of asking those who support Trump why the leader of the free world in the middle of a pandemic refuses to wear a mask? Do you know the meaning of hypocrisy? My question was straightforward, leaning toward the belief that there is no good answer, but still receptive to anyone who might offer one.
You did not.
My question was serious. In light of all the scie... (show quote)

You would discard and reject out of hand any attempt to explain this based on your predisposition to dislike Trump so it would be a fruitless effort. The hypocrisy is reflected in the fact that many Americans refuse to wear masks for various reasons yet you persist in singling out Trump. Evidence: you have rejected the explanation I provided.

I agree with everything you said. It is as though he is trying to make this country weak. He has been wrong in every step of the way with this national health crisis, which has also destroyed the economy.
He likes to fuel the racial unrest, by inappropriate racist labels.
Everything he does flies in the face of uniting the country. Something is terribly, terribly wrong.

He gets tested every day. Because he is the President of the United States, and his doctor recommended it.

Having a test every day is the only way to know if you don't have the virus. Everything else is just stupid - including wearing a mask to keep it away.

OK. Because he gets daily tests, knows he doesn’t have the virus, there is no need to wear a mask.
On the surface, some might accept that. But, there is more.
He should set the example for the rest of the country and encourage all to wear masks, by appearing in public wearing a mask. The mask is an effective deterrent for the virus, and he should be an outspoken fan of its use.
After all it is the citizens of HIS country that are dying. And it is the economy and well-being of HIS country that will not recover until the national health crisis is under control, and confidence is restored.
He should wear a mask.
Having said that, I will admit that I think his vanity and the fear of looking foolish are contributing factors to his irresponsibility.

He is likely of the ilk that views wearing the mask as a fear based act, a sign of weakness.

That's a very selfish attitude...and we all know trump is self-centered.

Plus, he has already said he won't wear one. How could he wear one after that...it would be admitting he had previously been wrong about something.

He should get over his pride and just wear the feckkin' mask to set and example for his minions.

All of us are deeply flawed, but it should be rare for a person to be so insecure, so small-minded not to be able to recognize and admit a bad judgement, and take appropriate steps to correct it.
But we elected such a man to be our President.
Damn.

He should get over his pride and just wear the feckkin' mask to set and example for his minions.

Trump is such a man, and he is our President. He is so afraid of looking weak that he cast aside good judgment and humility, to preserve his fragile ego. Others see through his bravado, and lose respect.

I would not want to live like that.

FACT- The ONLY reason to wear a mask is to NOT pass the virus. Not to protect the wearer. And if one has been tested negative there is no way for him to pass the virus. Trump is tested frequently, and has been found to be free of the virus. Therefore not wearong a mask puts no one at risk. But you must notice that he "social distance

That just simply is not true.

How long does the immunity inferred by a negative test last?

About as long as it takes to leave the testing site.

And we don't even need to discuss false negatives. If I get exposed today and go get tested tomorrow, I will likely get a negative test and then be passing the virus to others within a few days.

FACT - the test is an indicator of the president's status at the time of the test. We do not know the "frequency" of testing, but it is possible that his status could change at any moment.

FACT - the president, as the leader of a country in a pandemic crisis, should be telling everyone to follow the advice of the medical experts to wear a mask. He should be setting an example for all to follow in order to save lives.

FACT - the president is an arrogant narcissistic egomaniac who doesn't care about anyone but himself.

I don't understand.

Leaders lead by example. Trump refusing to wear a mask has politicized a scientific "no brainer". Now watch the effect of not wearing a mask has on the public.

it's sheer lunacy...
