I use MPB. They give you a quote up front and I have found them to be very fair in their price for my used gear.
After generous quote I just sent a camera to MPB. I just missed the FedEx guy yesterday, so it didn't leave 'til today. I'll let ya all know how things went. I do appreciate that MPB pays shipping both ways.

Yes I agree patience is a virtue but it does have limits. After they had my camera and equipment for 8 days, and after multiple phone calls, connecting to voice mail or terminal music I was told would hear back that day. No response that day or the next. Multiple phone calls to voice mail and terminal music again.
Surprise, within 1 hour of my post received an unacceptable quote. Asked for return of camera and equipment.
So much for the easy way.
Harking back to my days working for the old Helix camera in Chicago, most people have unrealistic expectations of what a store can offer on used equipment. The rule was to buy at one quarter the new sales price.

Has anyone had a recent experience selling camera and gear to Adorama.
I shipped camera and gear to them and they received it 10 days ago. Still no quote.
Call get voice mail, say will call back in 1-2 days.
I thought their reputation was good, I now am concerned.
Last year, I sent two -mails asking for a trae-in quote; never received acreply

Adorama and B&H have the longest and best reputation of any camera stores in the country. They both guard their reputations jealously. They are the last vendors on the Internet I would worry about.
I wouldn't trust Adorama, as I get my quotes f/my service person in GA who is from Japan?

I am still doing business with Adorama, both in used gear and in photo printing. They are definitely slower than usual, but their service and quality are still top shelf.

Several years ago I had a problem with them. Sent in some lenses and got a quote They were willing to swap for a lens I wanted then the crap happened. The lens was sold to someone else so then they sent a completely different lens that was broken. Then the would have the lens and when I called them they it was sold, even when they had 3 in stock, when I called they were all sold even though they stayed on the side for weeks. Nobody would help. Filed complaint with state AG and NY AG. Finally got ahold of the executive secretary. Explained what happened and stuff his people said. Told him I had filed with AGs and was going to write a letter to every magazine editor they advertised in and tell them what they did. He made good on the problem, this all occurred over several months, sent me a brand new Nikon 80-200 f2.8 D lens. Buy some stuff from them but not big ticket items.

For starters, you will not get a quote from them or any online retailer or brick and mortar store that comes close to what you can sell via private party, word of mouth or eBay. That’s a fact. The retailer has overhead and must make at least a 25% profit minimum to stay in business.
For instance, if you have a pre owned camera body that is selling for about $2000 at most places like Craigslist, eBay or online retailers, then that is about what you might expect to get if you sell it via private party. But the online retailer can’t pay you $2000 because that is what he can expect to be paid for your camera. You might think well, isn’t a hundred bucks enough profit for the online retailer? (thinking you should only lose $100 on a quick sale). Nope. They have overhead and to be honest, retailers make more profit buying low and selling high on all the preowned stuff they get and this constitutes a huge profit that keeps their doors opened. This, along with a lot of small accessories they sell are what keeps them in business. Brand new high value items like cameras etc have very little profit.
I've had very good experiences with FredMiranda.com. Nikon and Canon Only.

Tried Adorama over and over again. Their website is easier than KEH. In the end I used KEH with absolutely no problem
Yes, I noticed the B&H guy too. I always use them.
UHH sure is a great place.
