Tough Times: Met An Older Woman In A Bar

I met an older woman at a bar last night. She looked pretty good for a 60+year-old. In fact, she wasn't too bad at all, and I found myself thinking she probably had a really hot daughter.
We drank a couple of beers, and she asked if I'd ever had a Sportsman's Double?
'What's that?' I asked
'It's a mother and daughter threesome,' she said.
As my mind began to embrace the idea, I wondered what her daughter might
look like, I said, 'No, I haven't.'
We drank a bit more, then she said with a wink, 'tonight's your lucky night.'
We went back to her place. We walked in. She put on the hall light and shouted upstairs: 'Mom...you still awake?'

Yes, I could see that coming.

You eventually get to a point in life where it can be hard to find an "older woman" who is still able to get around.

Funny story. We used to go to a campground in NH every summer, and we got to know the other campers. One favorite was a woman near 80 who pulled her trailer, and ran her powerboat around the lake. One day we were talking to her, and she said, "Well, my mother's coming for a visit, and she wants to go out in the boat." We all laughed. A few hours later, her mother arrived, and they went out in the boat. Some families have longevity on their side. Looking back over my family history, most of my predecessors died in their early 80s, so I have a few years left.

I may be on borrowed time. My mother passed at 55, Dad at 84, but his mother was 103. I'm 73.

If genes determine longevity, I died a very long time ago. My brother passed at 2 1/2, Dad at 41, Mom at 49. If I'm still alive, I'm 83.

I did not see that coming at all. Back in my much younger years - early 1950s I spent all summer at our summer camp on Lake Winnipesaukee. My father & grandfather built a speed boat from a Chris Craft kit so we had fun with that. I still miss those days back then - even at the age of 77.

If I am reading this correctly, you lost your brother when he was only 2.5 years old !! Way too young. Same for your parents. There is no way I will make it to 83.

Thanks for your compassion. The losses were tragic, but one makes decisions to get on with life. So far, I've had a very good one. 83 seems old, but time does pass quickly. My mind is still very active and alert - body not so good, but I still walk and talk!
