Haters gave TheStarvingArtist hell over her last post. Can't wait to see the responses on this one.

I will offer the same comment as I did for TheStarvingArtist... perfect symmetry would take it from a shot of hands on breasts to a work of art.

I could never see perfect symmetry as a need for art. I prefer seeing something as it appears in nature, not an over considered construct.

Just wondering. I'm not aware that The Starving Artist has identified his/her gender.

I like it, but with technical reservations. On my iPad screen, the left hand loses too much detail by being underexposed. iMHO, the image would be stronger with a more definition of the hands (DOF?). Also, could we get a download?

I like it more than many other images on this site.

I saw this pose in a photo magazine many years ago.

With most photos there are two things I look for, as I can only speak for myself. The "feeling" an image conveys (the "why" of why the image exists) and the technical aspect, and there is no ideal "ratio" of the two, it is a case by case evaluation (generally I am more draw to the "emotional side" vs the "technical side" of an image). In this photo, I like the concept, what it "says" and that I find it emotionally compelling. Technically I think there are a few things that detract. It seems a little out of focus to me. I don't like the cropping, especially of the left (to us) hand, I wish a bit more was visible. I don't like the chain on that same wrist. I am curious what the image would have looked like with some fill light under the breast and if the hands were not "crushing" the breast, but cupping it more, but those are just my minds wonderings. So, nice shot, definitely glad I saw it and it was posted here.

??? Aside from superficial content objects, this image is not at all like starving's. Two photos, one of a kestral on a phone line and the other an eagle diving for a fish both have birds in them. The dynamics are completely different as likely are the intentions of the photographers.

It is also a comment on race especially with the title, although it should be Black On White.

An excellent topic for a black and white medium. However, it's a below average snapshot. I've seen similar handled with a lot more photographic artistry than this one.
