I just got my first FF camera. Nikon D610. I was wondering if anyone has this lens. If so....What do you think about it?
Have had it for many years. It’s my go to lens for sure.
have one for sale its my wife's used once came with a kit good price
I have one that I bought refurbished from Nikon to use on my D850 when I moved from DX to FX. Excellent “walk-around” lens, with a very useful range. Not enough reach for wildlife, birds, etc., but otherwise, very handy. Maybe not quite as sharp as a prime lens or a higher end zoom, but sharper than most of my DX lenses and meets most of my needs.
I believe he’s talking about the f4 version, the “red” VR is the f3.5-5.6, doesn’t have a good reputation but I’ve used one for years, Japan Made, and with 11x17 find nothing to complain about personally. Did move up to the new one, I’m certain it’s better, I doubt I’ll notice, except for the f4 aperture.
I was used this lens on my D850, for a couple years before switching to the non-VR 24-70. At times I miss the extended of the 24-120, but the image quality of the 24-70 makes up for it.
I have the lens, I use on both my D600 and D800, my favorite lens for both cameras.
It may be a good amateur lens. The pin cushion and barrel distortion is really bad. It is not sharp on the edges .the 24-70mm is much better
This was the “kit” Lena that came with my d810 but I find nothing kit about it. It’s my walk around lens and probably on my camera more than any other. I have a 80-200 2.8 that is one of the sharpest Nikon ever made in some people’s option and I find this one on par with it.

Which 20-120 version did you have?
The new one is not the same as the previous ones.
That is the lens that comes with the D780 now. I suspect it is good or they would not have paired it with the new DSLR.
Great lens. Perfect for vacation when you don't want a bag full of lenses.
The current version of the 24-120 f2.8 G, I have found to be very good. I had tried 2 previous versions of that lens and was not impressed. Due to my age and increased hand shake, I was no longer getting the results I needed from my 24-70 f2.8 G lens unless it was on a tripod. I do a lot of hand held shooting, but could not afford the 24-70 2.8 E and did not like the added size and weight of the E. I ran across an excellent deal for a Grey Market version of the new 24-120 G. I figured that if it was as bad as the last 2 versions I could just send it back for the cost of shipping. I immediately put it on my D850 and started testing. As a walk around camera it proved to be excellent, and my keeper rate has gone way up. I knew that I would like the extra 50mm of focal length, but that proved to be even more valuable than I expected. I later noticed that Nikon has started shipping this lens as the "Kit" with several camera models, including the D850.
