Actually, if you see the message, the output will render with a yellow banner that has red letters saying "Evaluation copy". In the case of "suspected illegal" message, I'm not sure how it will render. Check the two ref's I mentioned because there are instructions steps to create output without checking the server. Right now it seems the problem is only partially solved from what I've read, by having the server back online. It's not a matter of whether you legally own it, it's whether the software recognizes that. All changed this past week when the registration server went offline.

Thanks for your thoughts. I will try them. Instead of “Evaluation copy”, my message was that it may be an illegal copy, which it definitely is not. I’ve enjoyed working with ProShow very much and hope I can continue. I may need to try Photopia as they say they use the same file structure and I need to finish this show which has consumed about 60 hours of my time from selection, post-processing, and creation and contains about 425 slides from a southwest trip. I know, too long to sit for other people, but we enjoy the memories.

Try this to fix your problem. It has worked in the past for a number of different problems. This was suggest by tech support a number of years ago I think about version 5 or 6.

On the C: drive in the >program files (x86) >photodex >proshow (Gold or Producer) > delete the file *.PHD. This will remove the indexing and locations and force proshow to re-index and setup. It is the re-setup that you want to have happen. Should your directory index get scrambled or will not show new directories that have been added this will fix that also.

Should this not fix your problem then the next step according to the Tech Support people was to take a copy of Proshow Gold or Producer and reinstall OVER the existing copy. If the trouble continues to exist then Tech Support suggested that the entire program be uninstalled and then you reboot your machine and reinstall. This appears to be a common problem with one certain windows 10 update. This update was fixed on a later update from Microsoft. It did not see to affect the Windows 7 system.

Been using Proshow Gold then switched to Producer since version 1. I have a number of videos on line but all are with out sound except one. Visit www.polkcounty.org/video and have a look.

For the Military Veterans I have one special video at www.afdasf.org. The American Legion and The VFW both will tell you that this is well worth the watch. Click on the center picture to view the video and this does have sound. This is a military site so there is other info there as well.

Enjoy

Thank you. ProShow has been fully functional...until yesterday. I rendered a show about 20 hours earlier and wanted to make some changes. That’s when I got the message. Unfortunately, ignoring the message doesn’t work as it is embedded in the file and displays front and center throughout the rendered slideshow.

As a side note, due partly to your past responses, I bought a Sony RX10-M4 about 2 years ago. It is now my only camera and I love it.

Thanks for letting me know. Sorry to hear about your ProShow difficulties. I sent you a PM, but I'm afraid it is no help to you.

Thanks, Robin. This sounds like useful information to hang onto. I’ll give it a try. I have the latest update of ProShow Gold and Windows 10 and had been using it without problems until yesterday.

Hey thanks Robin. I had the same problem and your fix worked for me! Just deleted the *.phd file and reentered registration info. Back in business.

How exactly did you do it? Did you have to reinstall? Did you get prompted at any point to enter the key? I'm having that same problem. I have my registration key, but I don't have the disk to re-install. I followed the steps, but nothing....

I don't know why, but I've experienced the sw rendering an "illegal sw" image superimposed on the exported file on multiple occasions. Each time that this has happened, I've been able to eliminate it through the following steps.

1. Save my project.
2. Close Proshow Gold
3. Delete the proshow.phd file in program files (on my computer, the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Photodex\ProShow Gold)
4. Open Proshow Gold
5. Bring up the "Enter Registration" window under the Help menu.
6. Fill in with proper key and activate registration.
7. reopen my project and publish.

I tried the method of deleting the .phd file but it didn’t work. I had to do an install after removing the ProShow program but it didn’t ask for my registration key, which I found unusual. I never had an installation disk, originally just downloaded the program from the old Photodex site and entered my registration key. You may still be able to find the executable program on their site if you need it. Good luck!

Do you have the link for the old site, so I can reinstall the program? The link I tried brought me to a different website. Can you provide it? I don't have a disk either. I only have the old version on disk, which I actually reinstalled yesterday thinking it was the newer version. Now I'm stuck with the old one (which screws up the saved videos when rendered to some extent). I did a system restore this morning which took about 2 hours...and I still have the old version.

I used this link to reinstall... https://download.cnet.com/ProShow-Gold/3000-12511_4-10280465.html. No virus red flags came up. Downloaded with no issues. Then in the Help menu I clicked on "Enter Registration" and I entered the key from the old email I found. Just finished my video. It rendered perfectly!! thank you!!!!
