Leon and Jaymat,
This is about systemic racism. In this country.
Absolutely correct. Yet there are those who will insist we live in a "post-racial" America and ignore the almost daily evidence that being anything but "white" brings with it stigma. And by rationalizing and rejecting the evidence, the messengers are blamed for the message.
I am not excusing vandalism, looting, violence, thugs, or thieves; but can only imagine what it must be like to fear "walking while black". Add at least 70 years of broken promises and a cauldron of anger is created.

According to the mayor, all of the arrested were from out of state.
SELF CORRECTION: In more recent reports, the mayor and other politicians state that their information was not correct, that it has now been determined that while there were a substantial number of out of staters arrested, the majority were in fact state residents.
On one of the photos there was a spray message that read, 'Do you hear us now?' I heard them at the Watts Riots and the black community still does not understand that riots, looting and burning down building will NEVER bring them any closer to equality that they are looking for. It will only confirm what they are rioters, looters and arsonists. When they , the rioters, looters and arsonists finally realize that it isn't working and start giving a crap about someone else other then themselves, the chasm might start demenosting. Until then they don't stand a chance of gaining anything except confirming how utterly stupid they are.

It takes no time at all to get a Minnesota license or ID card with a Minnesota address on it. Even Mr. Floyd recently came here from Texas. Its hard to tell how long a person has been here by what a person's drivers license says. I lived in the areas of the twin cities where the riots took place. I know from personal experience that many if not the majority of people there are from somewhere else. So the 80% figure for out of staters making up the rioters may be closer than you think.

Do you remotely realize that you have labeled all the rioters, looters, et. al. as black; and by extension blame the ENTIRE black community for those guilty of the labels you indiscriminately throw around. Why is this any better than blaming all police for the behavior of rogue cops?
Please do not tell me that your comments were meant to be limited to the “bad ones”. Your words betray your beliefs . . . which are blatantly racist. If you do not see that, you are the stupid one.
You didn't read what I said. I was talking about the rioters, looters and arsonist Get a grip on reality. I
Alex,
have you thought about offering your last frame to MOMA? (Museum Of Modern Arts, NY City)
I think they might take it.

Oh I read everything you said. And you did exactly what I thought and stated you would. (The words are there. Read them.) Claim you were only referring to the rioters. Racists are never able to see themselves for who they are. Talking about who has a grip on reality ...

So I'm a racist because I hate rioter, looters and arsentists?? And you are telling me to get a grip. You're beginning to reason like Trump. If anyone disagrees with you, they are wrong

Ok, now you finally read what I wrote. Didn’t understand it, but read it.
You are NOT a racist because you hate rioters, etc.
You are a racist because you characterized all Black people who demonstrate for human rights as rioters; and as I predicted, then claimed to only be referring to the subgroup of African Americans who are rioters.
Read the words, the generalities, you wrote.
I am amazed that when you write “ the black community still does not understand that riots, looting and burning down building will NEVER bring them any closer to equality ” you are referring to an ENTIRE group of people, not just those who are rioters, etc.
As for reasoning like Trump, you are referencing a man who is constantly explaining what his racist comments were SUPPOSED to mean. Gee, sounds just like you.
OK guys, enough is enough! This is a forum about photography. The posted photographs well show the results of riot behavior. A statement about our time. No more no less. Get off your name calling and figure out how we as Americans can resolve these issues. I repeat: The photos say what happened loudly.
Thank you to those who commented. Whether I agree with your views or not is immaterial. The dialogue is important.
Thank you Paul but I wouldn’t begin to know how to do that.
Treat each other with kindness
No question, such atrosities like the last one with George Floyd have to be addressed all the way and from the top down.
I couldn't believe that ANY human can reach the bestial level like that - to have the dieing person under their control - a person begging them only for breathing air - while FOUR officers are nonchallantly watching him die for seven minutes?
George Floyd is not alone and if nothing has been done for so many years, the frustration of so many people reach for more radical tools.
Violence does not resolve anything, but sure raise the attention.
Let us try to understand, that many of those people making damages, may not be criminals, but hopeless unemployed and desparate groups?
