Creating a personal free photo website to store and share photos.

I checked the forum on this topic and many posts are old. I just want to create a website (I know I have to pay for the domain name) but would prefer not to pay a monthly / yearly fee to set it up and use it to store and share photos. I might consider selling photos in the future so it would need that capability. I already use sites like Shutterfly, Amazon, google and others for cloud storage but would prefer to set up my own website and then eventually grow it if I decide to sell photos ( I am willing to pay the monthly fee if I decide to sell photos down the road). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you considered Fine Art America? not sure about storage as I store my own on HD's but for display and sales it's virtually no work at all, I sell enough to cover the fees. Bob.

Investigate Flickr that is free up to 1000 images and SmugMug, if you think you want to sell images.

Like I said , I'm covering the fee, I also have shots on EYEEM, lots of likes, couple of small sales, EyeEm also lists with Getty so a couple got that far, kind of nice that they got there.

Unless you want to set up your own server and maintain it, you are going to have a fee. I use Smugmug because it’s unlimited storage for one annual fee. If I want someone to be able to get a photo, I send them the link and the password to that folder and they can view, download, or purchase hard copy images direct from Smugmug. If you want to make a profit on your images you can set that up on Smugmug as well.

Try Wix.com or Weebly.com

Both have free and pay options.

If you are a Lightroom/Photoshop subscriber, it includes Portfolio at no extra cost.

If you have Photoshop, you have to pay nothing, its build right in and it's a fully functional website!

I find that many photos belong in more than 1 topic or folder. I desired being able to have a photo exist in 1 folder but appear as a virtual copy in others. I'm using SmugMug which offers that option.

It's called Adobe Portfolio. Here's the basics: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/how-to/create-portfolio-website.html. There are numerous template styles you can employ. You can see one of them at my website, below.

Thank you all for all the excellent information on this subject. I did not know about “Portfolio” so since I pay the monthly fee for Creative Cloud, I will see if that fits my needs. Smugmug also looks appealing. Thank you again!
