Memorial Day snapshot. Warning: non-working prop weapon
Contrary to popular opinion, I think you have achieved exactly what your objective was....! You have created an image to scare the observer. After all, isn't photography all about images? Certainly not my kind of lady and not a pin-up poster image for my wall but an excellent image for the intended purpose.

What makes it ugly?
Yeah. I don't understand the comment either.

What bothers me... aside from the awful face on the model... And the tattoos (opinion)... is the emphasis of the killing machine(even if fake) and the connection of the machine to Memorial Day... the day we honor dead soldiers... many of whom were killed by instruments such as the one you champion in your photo.
It may be a prop... but in a stressful moment of confrontation... who knows what might happen.
I realize your stance on it all. I hope you never get caught on the receiving end of a real one.

Just wow! Like a gun is going to jump up and start shooting. If your position had any validity, there would be no cars either, since auto "accidents" cause a similar number of fatalities each year.
Is that the best that you have? We hear that all the time. How about an original theory instead of the Usual party line.

What are you looking for browner? You obviously don’t have the ability
to appreciate art. The artist wins every time you post. Did you know that?
You don’t get it....
If that is what you call “art”... the boat has sailed and you missed it.
All cats are grey ...
She still makes a good spinner.
I think an A1, A2 or M4 would have been a better choice.
And i see nothing wrong with using a properly cleared actual rifle in a photo.

I am amazed when people post something then when the negative comments come in the tell us we do not know art. This post is not art. It is a snapshot and not a very good one.

The dictionary defines Art as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
or
Art is often considered the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations and ways of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture and paintings.
This image seems have appealed to your emotion(s). How is that not Art?

Ok, to go by your dictionary definition, this is art. But by this definition a chi!d's sidewalk chalk drawing or finger-painting is art. So if you want to put the OP in the same category as a child's finger-painting then so be it. To me it is still just a snap-shot, and not a very good one.
To glorify an assault weapon on Memorial Day... a day when we honor our soldiers who have died... many of whom by an enemy with that type of weapon... is unspeakable.
And... I would not trust a naked female brandishing an assault weapon with that look on her face.

"Assault weapon" is a dishonestly-used and pejorative term. As for her expression, here's a blander shot for your enjoyment.

Rhetorical - Please your definition of an assault weapon???
Is it: a M16? M14? M1 Garand? Model 1903? Browning lever gun? single shot .22 cal rifle, Colt army 44? Musket? Bayonet? Knife? The family automobile? Covit19? They have all inflicting death on hundreds of thousands!
I stand by the op's right to post, I stand by your right to disapprove. Those are the right fought for by brave men and women, many who died defending those rights. Today is the day to honor all those who served and sacrificed. And perhaps, maybe, to illustrate in art a tool used in that defense.
Art (and this is still art) is in the eye of the beholder. It is not a piece I myself am inclined to fall in love with.
We have all expressed our opinions.
To expand into the political is no longer a discussion based on the art. Those comments belong in another forum and you are more than welcome to start a thread there!
