It's a good shot, nice looking car, but I wouldn't call it the Aphrodite of autos. For me, the Aphrodite of autos Would have been the Chevy Corvette, any year prior to 1963. Now that was a pretty car. Of course, don't go by me. I like cars with huge tailfins circa 1959 and before too. :)

Right state (NH) but wrong lake. The 66 SL was taken at Sunapee Harbor on labor day. Here's a classic boat taken a few minutes later also on Lake Sunapee.

Ah, yes. The famous "Golden Pond" dock.

Yours must be one of the thousands of MA plates driving around there in the summer. I think there are more MA cars than NH. :D

I'm from MA, butI lived in NH for about 18 years, and know the lakes very well (also as a land surveyor). There are "cottages" on Lake Sunapee belonging to super rich entertainers and plutocrats. Once in a great while, one of them will take their rare auto or boat to the harbor town for a little ego massaging. But, it makes for fun photography.

We spent twenty summers at a campground near Long Island, so we're familiar with those "cottages" on Winnipesaukee, too. I worked on the Mt. Washington for a couple of years, so I got to know the Lake very well.

The guy from the Herrington catalog has quite a car collection, and he had some of his vehicles on display in Center Harbor one summer.

really hard to tell what the year is with out seeing the rear clip. I believe the 1966 230sl Benz had a yellow marker lite on the front quarter panel just above the front bumper and also a red lens on the rear quarter.
