I think it's a result of supply and demand on some stressed items that consumers aren't able to get locally. Also, consider during the Christmas time, Amazon slowly staffs up to meet anticipated demand.... during this pandemic, the demand was instantaneous with a more rigorous working environment to consider. We live about 4 mi from a huge Amazon distribution center and the traffic in and out of there is something to behold. We haven't bought anything that we needed immediately and our delays have been minimal, sometimes even earlier on items that I clicked on the "I don't need it right away button." One other thing... Amazon has switched a lot of deliveries from services like (worthless) OnTrac and their own flight of vans. The surge of buying unless it becomes the new norm may not have justified purchasing more vehicles and training more drivers on how to properly throw packages on our porches? 😏

Believe me Amazon has the staff to easily handle the load and they have been ramping up on employees as well in anticipation of prime day or week as it has become.
The big issue lately was when they for the last couple months allowed all the employees unlimited unpaid time off so workers were coming and going as they pleased however the company put a halt on that practice starting the first of May so now employees actually have to be at work.

My two recent Amazon purchases both projected a 10 day delivery but came in four days.

I have the same question and I will be asking for some form of rebate or free extension as the fast delivery and T/A for my Kindle Fire was apparently part of the package I was offered and paid for and I am not receiving.

All Prime users should do this.

Stay well.

Agreed. We should flood them with requests for some form of adjustment.

It's easy to ignore one request. It's much more difficult to ignore the masses.

I might consider terminating, but consider this. You paid for a service. That service is delayed. Try delaying a payment and see what happens?

I don't disagree with concern over the extended times Amazon is taking to deliver the goods, but I do disagree with the preoccupation with "the primary reason for prime is two day delivery". NO, I feel the primary benefit of prime at Amazon is FREE SHIPMENT which hasn't changed. I think it's rare that a few days more makes any real difference to most people. When I consider the cost of prime I weigh that cost against how much I am saving in the shipping costs which continue to climb. Have you tried to ship something at the USPS recently. Absurd cost for even a small package. What I used to estimate to be about 7-8 dollars a few years ago now runs around $15.

Interesting situation. Because of Covid-19, Amazon says it is giving priority to shipping essential items, so regular items will take longer. Prime delivery has gone from one or two days to a week or two. I don't mean to be skeptical, but I wonder if Amazon is just taking it easy with their shipments and using Covid-19 as an excuse. Since I'm paying over $100 a year for fast delivery, I wonder how long I will be expected to put up with slow deliveries.

I'm just floating an idea here - not complaining about delivery - but if they could deliver in two days during the Christmas rush, why can't they do the same now?

Go easy on me. This is a topic for discussion, not an attack on Amazon.

We ordered flea medicine and dog allergy pills on Saturday, received them Sunday.

I'I have seen this, too, but I can appreciate the increase of business Amazon and others who provide an online shopping experience are seeing. I've had orders with an extended shipping date and I've also had something that wasn't pandemic related (sewer hose for my RV) arrive in 3 days. I can't really comprehend what's involved in managing Amazon's warehousing and shipping system that uses multiple shipping services.

As for the lost TV that had to go less than 100 miles: is Amazon to blame or the carrier?

It seems patience is a virtue best learned during a pandemic!

Take a look at the Q1 (Jan - March) stats. Amazon sales were about $75 billion, up from $60 billion the previous year. From any business perspective, that’s an insane increase, and those months only partially included pandemic ordering. It’s anyones guess what Q2 will look like, but I’m guessing higher than any holiday season ever. The strain on their systems must be mind-boggling.

Being part of the vulnérable demographic, we are using Amazon plus a few other delivery services to absolutely minimize the need to go to physical stores. We are willing to give Amazon a pass for the prioritization of essential items and slight delays in shipments.

Not having a problem, we use Wally, some things take an extra day or two but usually the projected date is good, and no annual fee.

My deliveries have possibly been extended a few times. What I hate is they bill you when an item ships. I ordered a bracket for chainsaw sharpening almost 2 months ago and the next day it said "shipped" then I found they set the delivery day for 2.5 months and it is on the way from China. I should have cancelled the order but since it is not really needed I hated to cancel on something in route. I just think that billing practice needs to be altered for things coming from another country. I paid for it last month and don't want to deal with a credit.

I ordered 9 items Sat. May2nd. Two of them ( a box of 6 Epson inks and a pair of slippers) came Sun The 3rd. I use Prime also and so far things come faster than expected. Some times not 2nd day but always free.I don't know how they prioritize I guess it's where you live.

Wow, listen to the cry babies whine, when you sign up for Amazon membership, that provides FREE delivery, the 2 day thing was just a later perk. Amazon is one of the largest retailer and as such has a different set of problems in their Dist, centers than your mom and pop stores who have to only keep 2-3 employees happy and healthy, but Amazon has 200,000-300,000 employees and therefore has a much harder job of keeping a work force happy and healthy. I think Amazon is doing a very good job of supplying what we need and want, and 10-14 days for del is just fine, sure it may require me to think ahead about what I want and need, but that is ok too. We have become a society of " I want it now', and some people sure get their shorts in a twist when they have to wait for something they think they need now!

I use it for more than just the shipping. Cancelling Prime would mean I'd be giving up the video streaming and the unlimited photo storage as well. Not willing to do that for what I hope will be a short-term problem.
