There were several video cameras in use during the briefing. One was focused on Dr. Birx as she sank further into despair at what she was hearing as the president droned on about alternative treatments for Covid-19. He suggested using heat and light, introducing light into the body through the skin, and then said that disinfectants would kill the virus. As everyone knows, there are ways of killing viruses outside of the body. Boiling water works quite well. Unfortunately, boiling water also kills human flesh very well. Trump then suggests disinfectants could be introduced into the body via injection. Watch Dr. Birx as this dangerous drivel drips from the mouth of the most powerful man on earth. This is a woman on the spot, trying very hard not to cry. Listen to the moron's words while watching her face. Weep for our country weep for our world. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/4/23/1939919/-WATCH-Dr-Birx-appears-utterly-horrified-as-Trump-babbles-about-injecting-disinfectants

As dark and grainy as the video is, i don't see where you can say she is trying not to cry. You are simply chimping back what the website headline does. If you watched the actual full conference, you would have seen the president actually also asked her the question and her response was affirming that UV and disinfecting do kill the virus but it has not been used as a treatment.

The clip does not include the previous statement from the president which sets up the clip - you can tell because the first word you hear is "so..." . Please do some critical thinking on your own. do the research rather than just parroting back information from an extremely liberal website.

Last response for me - The physicians (practitioners and epidemiologists connected to my employer) are questioning how the deaths could have occurred since the drug is widely used when malaria is suspected.
There is documented cases where the drugs DID reverse the impact of the COVID virus ansd facilitated recovery in patients. (I am trying to get the abstracts on those patients now) Unless the person took well over the normal dosage, they would not have expected to see any problems if the persons didn't already have other conditions which are contradindicated for use.

I question if a person took any non-prescribed drug, that they also did other things that could have killed them. So it may not really the drug ingestion on its own that caused death. Overdose maybe or allergy to the drug, maybe ...

from the FDA who support what the president said and in fact cleared the drug for use in COVID patients says this:

From FDA site speaking of potential issues of the drug -

One example of that is heart rhythm problems, which the FDA warned today had been associated with chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. Known side-effects of the drugs could lead to “serious and potentially life-threatening heart rhythm problems,” the agency said in a statement.

“Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are FDA-approved to treat or prevent malaria,” the agency said. “Hydroxychloroquine sulfate is also FDA-approved to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. These medicines have not been proven safe or effective for treating COVID-19.”

Most recently, reports of heart-related illness and even death among those treated with the two medications in COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the official FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database, among other places. In some incidents, the drugs have been taken on their own; in others, they were combined with other medications, like the antibiotic azithromycin.

“These adverse events included abnormal heart rhythms such as QT interval prolongation, dangerously rapid heart rate called ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation, and in some cases, death,” the FDA cautions. “Patients who also have other health issues such as heart and kidney disease are likely to be at increased risk of these heart problems when receiving these medicines.”

Your commentary illustrates why no one should use prescription drugs without Physician supervision. All drugs have unpleasant and sometimes serious side effects and are contraindicated when the patient has other specified conditions.

What I heard was a blithering idiot of a POTUS. He lacks the critical thinking skills needed to understand what Bryan was saying plus his lack of rational reasoning caused him to come up with this narrative of getting UV light inside the body or using a disinfectant by injection to "clean" the virus out of the body. That's what I heard.

Unfortunately, the human body is pretty much opaque, even to UV. Of course, enough UV will eventually get through, but it will take awhile to burn through the char.

Do you not find it silly that you are supplying a 'news' website link to tell people what the president said ?

Really ????

Thanks for illustrating my point of how maybe its not the president that is not-too-bright ...

They carry the news conference live here on Spectrum News 14. I watched it. I cannot for the life of me see how he was misquoted! The edit was more than fair. He looked much more foolish live.

There is a certain class of morons who would be mesmerized by Trump just enough to try it.

And, apparently, another class who pounce on something someone said and try to make it into something it was not.

Yes he did. And had the media left it at that, he would indeed look foolish. To most people. Supporters and non-supporters.
But the media tried to capitalize on his words, and claimed that he made recommendations, which he did not. Thereby losing their credibility.

Stan, I don’t know you but, I suggest you:
1- practice your listening skills.
And
2- your adjective laden description may more aptly be used to describe what I just read in the above post.

Unfortunately for many, what Trump says is often less important than how he says it. He is eager to save face and deflect blame, when he could lead, rather than dictate.

Enough intelligent people in his own administration heard it the way they feared unintelligent people heard it, that the shock was clearly evident. Reckitt Benckiser Group plc, the makers of Lysol, heard it that way, too.

It's a video. You can hear Trump's own words. If you don't like my source, find another one. He says the same thing no matter which news site you check. I also saw it live. Besides, as far as I can tell, James O'Keefe wasn't there. There were multiple cameras, and you have no reason to believe that the clip I posted was fake. Watch the others. Watch all of them you want. Given the numerous right wing news sites, watch one of their clips and see what the moron said. Listen carefully. Did you hear anything in his tone suggesting he was speaking satirically? Did you hear a reporter ask him a satirical question?

wasn't going to reply any more but wanted to address your comment. I have no problem with your interpretation - however much I disagree with it - you are entitled to be wrong .

However if I seriously said to you, "I know a nuclear bomb kills everything through concussion and radiation, could we use something like that to kill the virus" - I would hope you could tell I was not suggesting we stand up the infected and explode a bomb next to them.

If you take my actual words and suggest I was saying that nuclear bombing should be a course of action and say I am presenting it as a proposed solution ( factually using the words I used ) you are at best being disingenuous because you are presenting facts without context and not what was intended.

I don't like the president's use of hyperbole and self-aggrandizement but I also recognize he is doing it and why. Maybe there are a lot of people who don't understand the way he speaks but for the media to push an agenda by intentionally misleading people is wrong and we would be much better off as a country if folks just watched for themselves as you did and evaluated the statements on their own. When you see all the comments posted here that parrot the headlines and can't offer their own facts to support it, you know they are not thinking. When coupled with the vitriol and anger you see here with name calling and degrading remarks, it shows the end of the America I knew. Thats true of BOTH political parties, not just one side.

But it was, among other things, a suggestion that his medical experts should look into the possibility of introducing uv light or really bright light into the body or of injecting disinfectant into the body. Imagine the drunk at the end of the bar making such idiotic suggestions. Then give him the nuclear launch codes.
