I prefer the first image. To me, the second is a barn and a fence. The first has a foreground and an amazing sky lost in the crop of the second. Whenever I see “God-beams” of light coming through the clouds, they are staying.

Looking for some input from my fellow Hoggers. These are the same image, processed identically, and the only difference is the cropping. (Well, I did move the truck a bit to accommodate the crop, but...) I personally like certain aspects of both, but would like to hear from some other perspectives. View in Download, as usual! Thanks!

I like both pictures, but I do like the second one the best. I like to take pictures of barns and old buildings and have learned a lot by reading everyone's comments. I think I usually crop too close and need to learn to pull back some.

I prefer#1 because of the foreground. I would crop out the trees on the right for less distraction from the barn.

Tried a couple diff things - but on both reduced the foreground to just a hint of the grass and kept a lot of sky. #1 put more emphasis on the barn. #2 put more emphasis on the truck.
Of these two I like #1 best.
But it's your picture so you find the one you'll put your name on.
(I didn't say I liked my crops better than yours, just gave you a little different perspective?)

Both are good, but I like the first image better because it includes the foreground.

I prefer the first one too. Like others have commented, the grass in the foreground add to the expanse and depth of the image. To me the barn is not my focal point but part of my feelings of wide open expanse.
I can definitely see this image in a travel brochure. Thanks for sharing

The question is what feeling do you want to project with your image. If the subject is the building then crop 2. However if the subject is showing the the barn in its apparent rural isolated landscape then crop 1 is better. Personally I prefer crop 1, rather than mostly building it shows me the building plus the fabulous landscape surrounding it and I can more easily imagine standing there looking at the great scene. For me the subject is the landscape even if there is a building present, landscape images of windmills often demonstrate this.
Hope you don't mind but I have taken the liberty of giving it my personal take on your great photo.

I like #1 the clouds and sky really to me help make the picture, some days when clouds are right I look for something to take picture of.

Commenting on my version (just above) about the saturation. I went back and cut the blue of the sky and mountains by about half. Better, I think.

Barry

From the sounds of what Barry did in the end sounds good.

I like the truck and the and the grass in the photo. For my liking their is too much saturation in Barry's example.I like the framing the grasses an the mountains can give.

I like #1 for the reasons already expressed. And I love your title. I've learned a new expletive.
