I prefer #1, seeing the "whole picture". It's interesting to know that it's a stump. To me it gives more character to the picture.

I like the cropped one. It’s less busy.

Congrats on seeing an unusual subject, but you have an image with a divided center of view - two
points if interest.

I guess I’m a bid different, I sort of like not knowing it is a stump and thinking it is a big beautiful tree with pretty little waterfalls!

Been thinking about this for some time - the original tells the "True" store of a spring time run-off in the forest - the cropped version gives to wondering if this is small and close or across the canyon further away.

C & C welcome.

I like the first one Harvey. Thank you.

Although I like both, #2 is a bit more "intimate". Landscape close-ups can add a bit of mystery/wonderment to a shot leaving interpretation to the viewer. It is sometimes nice not to have everything spelled out for you.

The first. The stump is defined.

I like #1, it shows more of the scene and the tree trunk. Thanks for sharing.
