I have had a Nikon DX5000 for many years. It was a good entry level and I am not considering upgrading to the 5600....any thoughts?

It's an update not an upgrade. In my opinion save your money toward a significant upgrade.

If you think it's time for an upgrade, give serious thought to trying out the mirrorless cameras. I had a5600 and a d750, and gave one as gift and sold the other to get a z50. Having a good time with it.

Also, I don't know if there d5000 has bluetooth to send directly to your phone as you take pictures , but the D5600 and the z50 both do, and I've found it to be incredibly useful.

Definitely!

I went from D5100 to D5300 to D5600. Appreciated each step.

The touch screen on the D5600 is my favorite feature. It works great with D5xxx active Info screen for settings.

Snapbridge is nice. Plus it has a button for release mode. And a function button I program for ISO, although ISO is on the Info screen.

This poster obviously doesnโ€™t have a D5600.

You're right! I would never buy it for myself.

The D5600 really is a very nice camera. Very capable in almost every way.

I considered replacing my D5600 with the Z50. I already have the adapter for my Z6. But I donโ€™t like fussing with it and it makes the weight of Z50 plus adapter more than D5600 so no interest.

At 8- to 10-years usage, you've 'earned' the right to upgrade from 12MP to a current industry standard 24MP camera. You'll be rather happy with the improved ISO performance in addition to cropping options from the larger resolution files.

You've got several suggestions from others, I agree that you're due for an upgrade (keep the D5000 body though :) it's nice having 2 cameras) you haven't said what lenses you have. Someone suggested the newer mirrorless router and that might be great advice if you aren't too heavily invested in SLR lenses. If you've got lenses you love I'd maybe look at a 7000 series or maybe even the D500?

I've had all of the D5000 series cameras and The D7000 and D7100. The D5600 is by far my favorite. After having scores of cameras I finally am fully satisfied and will no longer be buying a camera every year. When you buy one and use it for a few times you may feel the same as there is little more, if anything, that you would want a camera to do and all your present lenses will work on it. ENJOY!

The D5600 is an excellent camera but since you have a D5xxx series camera already try to go to the D7500. I have a D7500. Here are some pluses:

Superior penta-prism viewfinder. The glass prism inside gives a larger, slightly brighter view through the viewfinder. The D3xxx and D5xxx series cameras have a penta-mirror viewfinder.

U1 and U2 memory banks

Autofocus fine tuning. The D5600 doesn't have AF fine tuning.

51-point autofocus with the great Group-area AF mode.

Extensive weather sealing

It has a dedicated ISO button right behind the shutter button.

Are you happy with your current images? if yes, then keep your current camera.
Are you NOT happy with your current images? if yes, then buy a mint used D7200 or take a good beginning photography course.

I have a Nikon D3300 and have had my eye on the D5600 for quite awhile now, although I have been looking at "USED", they still are seeming to hold their value, which is more than I am able to afford at the Present time. But I have also considered the distant dream of aquiring the D7500. So I do hope you will find a D5600 that will fulfill your desire. It does have some great features that I would enjoy in my Photography Journey.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ

What upgrades will you achieve from the D5000 to the D5600, not familiar with the D5000.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ
