Overcast skies make for perfect portraits. Of flowers at least.
I don't know what kind of apple this is. It produces myriads of little orange apples a few inches across. We were told it's a type that's highly prized in Britain, but I don't know if that's true.

Looks like crabapple blossoms but probably not. Beautiful shot, Hugh, and you're so right about overcast conditions being great for flower portraits. No worries about harsh highlights or shadows.

Thanks! No, it's not a crabapple. We have a flowering crabapple, but the rain this year got the blossoms before I did. Mea culpa. These are flatter than a crabapple, or than any other apple I've ever seen. If I remember what they are, I'll post it.

Thanks, sippyjug. I suspect the variety is prized for making cider (as for your jug), because the apples themselves are so small.
