Driving US 191 is a mind-blowing, life changing experience. Take as much time as you can because there is a lot to see. Make sure you see Flaming Gorge on the Wyoming/Utah border. There is so much you should see that I'm not going to say any more. The only way to believe it is to see it.

First - so sorry for your loss. Second - thanks for sharing I really want to do this also. I love driving the country and seeing what's in the middle if you know what I mean.
Thanks, I do know what you mean. I had a home rented in Carlsbad, CA, for the last 2 weeks in March. I was going to drive there from Milwaukee, meet my daughter and grandson there, and then go on to Tucson. I was very fortunate that I was able to cancel and get refunds. I’m looking forward to being on the road again.

Thanks! I think I have already spent about 15 hours looking at Google maps and Google earth to try and map out a route that will work for me. Really looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear of your loss Wags. Those are excellent shots of some amazing scenery.
That looks like a great trip, Bill.
You might consider adding Mesa Verde Natl. Park to your list. It's in Colo. in the four corners vicinity about 1 1/2 hrs East of US Rt 191. It preserves some of the cliff dwellings of the ancient ones; a spiritually moving place with great photo ops. I've posted one photo just to illustrate what's there.
Gorgeous images Wags and sorry for your loss.
I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. I cannot imagine life without her. But I am really glad to see that you are getting inspiration from her life to share our country's beauty with us. Please continue to share these photos with us. My wife retired this April and once restrictions are lifted, we plan to start our tours of the USA this Fall. Starting with Mt Rushmore, just as you have shown above. Please do continue to share with us because I can use your trails as a map for us to follow. Thanks, again.
As long as you’re out that way, sure to stop in Glacier National Park.

Last September, a couple of months after my wife passed away, I realized I needed to get away for awhile. So, I ran away from home. Some of the hogs were nice enough to help me with my travel spots, and I took off for a couple of weeks of isolation and photography. First stop was in South Dakota at the Badlands. From there to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. Next was Colorado National Monument, and then on to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. At that point I was ready to start the trip home, so I kept heading south because I had to see Monument Valley. I was able to get some shots of some amazing places, and it convinced me to run away from home again later this year. I’m now in the planning process of mapping out the trip. There is a highway (US Highway 191) that runs from the Canadian border in MT to the Mexican border in AZ. I’m hoping to make that trip in September as long as the travel and visiting restrictions are lifted. I’ve never been to Yellowstone or Grand Teton or Jackson Hole. And I want to spend a couple of days at Monument Valley and several other spots along the way. My last trip I stayed in hotels. This year I plan on mixing hotel stays with some car camping and bought a new SUV to help with that. Thanks for listening and viewing my photos.

I like Mt Rushmore and the arch images most.
Travel is good for the soul. The trip you plan sounds wonderful. Will you go north or south?

Starting in Mikwaukee, I’ll spend a couple days in MN with some friends, then head out to MORGAN. MT, and go south from there.
