They are a heck of a lot stronger than your average run if the mill metal light stands. I use homemade sand bags for holding down everything.

Homemade sand bag directions: cut off pant legs (preferably jeans), tape at one end (I use electrical tape), line with trash bag, fill with cheap play sand, tape trash bag, and then tape other end of pant leg.

plieber: I appreciate you inventive ability. However, you must learn a lesson from what happened to Dr. Frankenstein when he became inventive!!! Sorry to say he was stoned to death by people giving negative comments instead of building on his his marvelous monster, excuse me ,,, creation.

Don't take offence I love your Ideas I do the same
I use white plastic miixing bowls for my light filters. they fit perfect over the SV lite domes
