Which new full-frame would you choose?

I bought some graphic ready-to-use decorative frames on light green layout grids, thinking I could drop out the grid background on CS 4. However, it didn't work. I'd sure appreciate any suggestions from a Photoshop expert on how to get rid of the grid by using CS 4.

Buckeyebilly> Here is a question back atcha, I shoot both Cropped and Full Frame, how is going from a Nikon D5100 (cropped) to a full frame considered "graduating"? they both are great formats and both have they're place. Just curious cause I hear it a lot, Graduate...I don't get it.

So, here's the deal....I am ready to graduate to a full-frame camera (I currently have a Nikon D5100 with only a 18-55mm kit lens) and I'm soooo glad that the manufacturers are making them more affordable. Canon has made the D6, Nikon the D600, and Sony the A99. Here is your challenge:
If you are a Nikon user, tell me why I should consider either the Canon D6 or Sony A99.

Its not about the camera.
Its about the glass.
The advice to buy whatever your friends have wasn't bad advice.
I wish I had thought of it. It gives you a group of people to share with, buy cast-offs from, sell cast-offs to etc etc.

But getting back to the question.
Decide what type of photography you want to take.
Then decide what best quality lenses you can afford to let you do that.
Then let the lenses choose the camera.
No point buying a Nikon camera if you are lusting after a particular Canon lens, and vice versa.
What do I have?
Nikon D40 & D90 & Canon 5D2.
I chose the D40 & the D90.
A lens chose the 5D2.

I have used a succession of Nikon cameras for many years and have always found them to be reliable and dependable. I now have a D90 with an 18-200mm 3.5 lens, as well as a 50mm 1.4 lens. The camera and lenses have served me well in many situations. I also have a 35mm 2.8 PC lens from my film cameras that I understand can be used on the D90. I'm eager to try it out.

I would go to a brick and motar camera store and get each one in my hands to see which one feels right.

Make a decision as to brand remembering to factor in lenses, accessories, etc. and how how those cameras fit your hands and shooting style.

You might also try renting your choice for a week to see if you really like it or if there are any querks you can't stand.

Don't rely on the opinions of others as YOU will be using the camera.

Good luck

Even though I'm a Canon devotee I second this advice, get it in your hands, Bob.

Its not the camera that takes the photos, but the person behind it. I guess the only way to choose your new FF camera would be to try all makes to determine which one suits you best. I use Sony so am a little biased on their range. Canon and Nikon are also excellent cameras and so your choice can only be based on your preference, difficult as that may become. Good luck

It is pointless and most of us do not have a great deal of knowledge about cameras we don't use. I could see this on an application for work to a photo store. Not here!

I have a Sony A55 (my preferred). I have a CanonXSi. I just gained a Nikon D3100. My experience with the D3100 is limited but it appears to me it takes photos with more pop than the Canon. I would , therefore, go with the D600. PLEASE: Canonians do not waste your time posting why I am wrong blah blah blah. It is no big deal --- they're all dandy units.

I recently bought a 5Diii. I have read many reviews of the D800 & 5diii. Most reviewers liked the 5D as well or better than the D800. I am sure that the Nikon is an excellent camera, but I couldn't be more pleased with the 5D. I don't know about the 3 cameras mentioned, but I would wait until they are out, read all the reviews & go to a store & try them out. That is what I did with the 5D & I am having a great time with my new camera. If you only have a kit lens, I would suggest looking for some new glass as a priority. Good-luck with your decision. Bab

I don't see this as very objective. Those who have used Canon for many years (like me) will say go to a Canon. Those who have used the other 2 brands will advocate for their use. You have to decide by making objective comparisons -- going to a camera shop and ask questions, what feels right for you and so on.

Hey Doc ..... I'm a Nikon fan, been a fan of Nikon for years, I recommend Nikon highly .....

But in response to your post ..... you have a Nikon now so regardless of your skill level you're somewhat familiar with the Nikon format ..... that's one less obstacle to tackle .....

Nikon Flash Guns always have been and still are number one ..... that's a big plus for Nikon, after all, photography Is painting with light ..... there may be some limitations but I can still use my 40 year old Nikon lenses on my and D70s and D7000 .....

The LCD went out on my 4 year old Nikon 8008 ..... Nikon in Garden City, NY repaired it for free, they said it never should have happened .....

I could never be happy Sony ..... I don't care for their marketing ..... Both Betamax and memory stick failed because they're greedy ..... have ya ever had to deal with Sony Warranty dept .....

I could be happy with Canon If there was No Nikon .....

but there is .....
