EasytodoUS backup software

In searching for an alternative to Acronis Backup software, I have tried to use Easytodo software. It is inexpensive and seems very straightforward to make a backup. BUT, the ability top restore is essential and for this, you need some kind of rescue media that will boot the computer from a flash drive or disk drive. Easytodo seems to make creating a rescue drive somewhere between incomprehensible and impossible. If you follow the instructions in the tool menu to create rescue media, you end up with a non bootable ISO on your flash drive. When I contacted their tech support for help, I was told that I had to convert the ISO using software called Rufus. When I downloaded Rufus, it gave me a choice between creating another ISO file, or a Win pe file that would require changes to my BIOS to work. I finally gave up.

Has anyone in this forum had experience with Easytodo and success in creating rescue media. Incidentally, Their tech support did try to download software to a flash drive on my computer, but the flash drive was not recognized by my computer and it was impossible to reformat it.

Forget it and return to Acronis which has always worked flawlessly for me (and everyone else I’ve ever discussed it with)

Your right! My curiosity got the better of me and I felt challenged to try something new.

Acronis is sometimes a bit slow, but it works well.

Good for you, TriX. I found the Acronis manual to be absolutely horrible, for one thing. Perhaps it easy to use for computer geeks, and I don't consider myself totally stupid, but I would back things up on Acronis and find that sometimes I could retrieve things and sometimes I couldn't. So, I just decided to copy via command dot.prompt and found it easier and more reliable.

Oh you lucky person. Acronis has been trying to get my disk restored for the past three weeks. The restore media dies with drivers not found.

Why not take a look at Ashampoo Backup.
There is a free version, but I use the "Pro" version - NOT expensive.
It's super easy to use and saved me on numerous occasions! All you really need is a separate drive on which to store your backups, a thumb drive (not even a large one) and if your computer won't start, merely boot from that and off you go!
An exceptionally solid backup program!

I have used Macrium Reflect for years. It backs up everything to ONE file on an external harddrive. You can restore selected items, or you can restore entire Harddrive (in case of a harddrive crash) using a thumbdrive boot media which you will create. There is a free version and a paid version. The free version is all I've ever needed/used.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers...so my computer guy put "NovaBackUp" on system. It backs up my entire C & D drives twice a week. I accidentally deleted a template I created and had to resort to restoring the file from a recent backup. I found the file very easily and restored it just as easy. I don't remember the exact cost but somewhere in my gray matter I seem to remember it was under $100. That's a one time purchase. Good luck with your choice.

I'm very surprised you don't want to use Acronis anymore. I've used it since 2008. It has saved "my butt" quite a few times.
Care to explain why you do not want to use it anymore?

Thanks,
Mark

I gave up on those backup softwares. I now just copy the file to another hard drive. If I want something from there I just go and get it.

That works for data files (photos, documents, ...) However it will recover your c:\drive (operating system and programs).
Acronis does!

Rufus is a very simple utility (the simplest one I've seen among many) to create a bootable flash drive from an ISO file. I use it all the time. First of all, if the ISO filedoesn't belong on the flash drive, as Rufus will be formatting it. Move it to the computer.
Then you select the device you want to prepare (the flash drive, select "DISK or ISO image" under Boot Selection, browse to the ISO image under Target System, and that's just about it.

If you need help with it, private message me. Maybe I could walk you through it on a phone call.

I have used EaseUsToDoBackup for many years and love it,.....Acronis image files were getting exceedingly large for my liking,....so I switched and haven't looked back.
I have paid EaseUs lifetime versions for each on my computers.
Excellent product IMHO
EaseUs is always having discounts so use the free version (which works fine),...till you see a discount price.
