Let me amplify a comment made by Jerry. Education definitely makes a difference. Major difference. Example follows. Many may think that education is all about memorizing rules, memorizing formulas, memorizing dates. Absolutely not true. Example: As I teach college physics (and taught physics on the high school level), the semester may begin with developing (thought to mean "memorize this") fundamental concepts. This takes one or two days. After that, it is all about concepts. While I'm teaching from home right now, "holding cyber classes" every Tuesday and Thursday, this has naturally expanded to Monday and Wednesday too, and I welcome it.

Okay, thanks for reading and time for me to make my point. My students must show me their work, their math work. Not difficult to do via the Internet. Now that we're "deep" into the concepts of 'work', 'power', 'potential energy', and 'kinetic energy', more of the the homework does NOT require a calculator, but requires "mental articulation". THIS is a major goal of mine, and of my colleagues. Mental articulation, or what many may simply call "thinking". That is what quality teaching and learning is all about.

Thank you Jerry for starting this thread about education. And it can happen at home.

Somehow I think that is staged.

It probably isn’t staged. Somehow the rumour started that you can catch the virus from the beer and
............well you know how rumours get passed. Apparently it’s happened in quite a few countries.
Similar to toilet paper but the opposite😄😄😄😄

Years ago, I drove a Toyota Corona. Apparently, people are scared of that, too.

That's why I don't have a degree in science. Despite years of trying. I can't do math. Let me repeat that, I CAN"T do math. Every body tells me 'Oh, everyone can do math". Wrong. It still bothers me years later. I went to college under the GI Bill when I retired from the Navy. I wanted to be a field biologists in the worst way. Never happened because I CAN"T DO MATH. And there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been a great biologist. Better than some of the Professors I studied under.

That would be an example.
My husband goes on these 3-7 day hikes. Also 3- 4 hunting trips a year.
He buys all this freeze dried meals for his various excursions. So, we have at least-a months supply of freeze dried food in the garage. Plus venison in the freezer. Most of the meat he gives to the local food pantries.
Maybe I should take a picture of the freeze dried food and photoshop it in gullible way

I never bought Corona Beer, until I heard of the virus. Since then, I've bought 2 cases, plus a lot of limes. I juice the whole lime, sometimes two, and pour the beer on top of it in a large glass. So refreshing and healthy, I believe it helps build my resistance to the coronavirus.

Could it be that many Americans are so "full of it" that a vast supply of TP is needed on occasion? Such an occasion could well be a national crisis, real or perceived. But of course a predicted snow storm causes a rush on bread and milk.....

I don't know if this photo was rigged, but I doubt it. People say that an education isn't important, and that "book learning" is overrated. Not true. Getting an education teaches people to think. Rather than avoiding Corona beer, people should be staying at home and avoiding the coronavirus.

EDIT: Yes, I know this picture is from England, but it's the same situation here.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. SMFH We sent people to the moon, created the greatest civilization the world has ever seen. What a bunch of friggin morons we are.

So a store manager told his workers to empty the beer aisle and then load it with cases of Corona beer. Then he had someone take a picture of it. Of the two possibilities - stupid people or employees wasting their time, which do you think is the most logical? In this country, stores are understaffed, and employees are over-worked as a result of this virus.

Possibly panic buying cleared the bottle shop, and the first delivery,
after the nutters cleared the shelves, was the Corona Extra.
Someone saw the comedy in the imagery and took the photo.

Out of the millions of bottle shops/liquor stores in the world, the above
is bound to happen.

Yeah, exactly. Why are we picking on Americans all of a sudden? It's the Italians that are dying in droves, with the most beautiful art work in the world hanging on walls every where. Or the French with the most fattening food in the world on plates all across the country. Or the UK with...oh, never mind. What a frigging bunch of morons they are.

Jerry, you have hit on something that to me is just as dangers as the virus: Hoarding. Yesterday I was in a local store. I was seeing people buying 50 lbs. of potatoes and 20 lbs. boxes of meats. This was not just one person, but six people in a line. This was at 9:00 AM on a Saturday's morning . Something has to be done to put an end to hoarding. That picture may or may not be staged, but walk into any store in America and you will see that it is not. It all because of hoarding.

Incorrect.

I dispute what you have written sir,
and am prepared to bet, that per capita,
more in the USA are obese than in France.
And, that more in the USA have diseases from
"fattening food" than "the French".

In a nut shell, I believe USA eats more fattening food than France.

I guess I'm going to have to give up sarcasm on line.
There is no doubt in my mind that there are more fat Americans than French folk. I don't think Americans eat more fattening food, they just eat more food. I'm an example of that.
The point I was trying to make is that it takes a certain intelligence to create recipes for fine dining. Just as it takes a certain intelligence to create the most beautiful art in the world. Just as it takes a certain intelligence to get to the moon and safely back.
I was agreeing with the earlier poster who doesn't think it's right to call Americans stupid any more than to call Italians or French folk stupid. Although there are certainly enough stupid people in each population and every population.
