Use google shutter count for your camera brand and model. Carefully check the models for the software / site being considered and confirm your exact model is listed, particularly if you find that you need to purchase software to obtain this value.

That depends on the camera make & model.

Most every Nikon includes shutter count in the EXIF of every shot taken, you only need learn how to look at the EXIF information or upload a jpg image to a free shutter count web site that looks at the EXIF and displays the count.

On many other brands it must be read by connecting the camera to your computer and using software to read the shutter count directly from your camera.

Armed with the make & model of your camera you can see if you need to connect it directly or look at the EXIF info.

I use shutter count from Dire Studio to look at my Canon shutter count, it will also read shutter count from EXIF of a Nikon created jpg file.

With all of this free time I'm going to try to broaden my computer knowledge. Maybe you can help. How did you add the "link"? I don't know how to do that. Thanks in advance.

When using <reply> <quote reply> or writing the original post, see the 'Show Tags' link. The URL codes are presented. Use 'link with title'.

Several things that might be useful:
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page?upnum=2939
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page?upnum=2942
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page?upnum=2930

While you are learning how to use these things, you might consider making a user page.
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-page?upnum=2923

The advantage of a user page in this case is that it is not a post you throw out to the general public, but the format is the same as a post would be. Although the general public can view a user page, the URL does not appear in any of the UHH sections unless you post it there. So you can keep it quiet while you try things out. Unless someone is really nosy and finds the URL, nobody will see your trials until you are ready to post the URL. You can polish the thing as much as you want.

Another advantage of a user page is that you can edit it forever. A post can be edited in a limited period of time after it is thrown out to the wolves (not sure how long that time period is, maybe a half hour or an hour?). A user page can be edited years after you first generate it. And when the page outlives its usefulness, you can delete it.

I think every UHH user can have up to 100 user pages. You can use one if there's some information you want to share frequently, but don't want to spend 20 minutes typing it in (with fat finger errors abounding).

Just type the address and it automatically becomes a link. Glad to help and good shooting to you.

True, but if you want to get fancy you can use the UHH tags

This is a link to CHG_CANON's post

It's always good to be in danger of learning something new.
