Read the story about the photos taken when Oswald was shot. Probably on the internet somewhere.

Two photographers, inches from each other, photos taken with a few milliseconds of each other.

One is world famous and one the Pulitzer Prize. Looks on the faces. The sheriff with the big hat, etc ( died recently I think)

Other one is interesting.

None whatsoever. But creative directors for the sites that will pay for and use them are amazingly critical. You may see 500 shots from a collection of 3000 that are good, but the creative director will see just 1 or 2 "perfect" shots.

About that "weeks to get them into Lightroom" are you just exaggerating for dramatic effect or does it really take you that long to add images to a catalog? I've done events when I've come back with as many as 2500 shots (a wedding with a couple of second shooters) - and been able to add them to Lightroom, review and cull, and add some simple adjustments to provide a uniform "look" to the set, exported to nominal-sized jpegs, and posted them onto my website for client review in a matter of a few hours. If I get back from an event early enough I get this done before I turn in for the evening. No exaggeration! It helps to have a 200Mbps or faster connection for uploading.

Maybe the weeks is not accurate but the guy literally held his shutter button down for most of the press conference. I can’t imagine how many photos he took. When I take a few hundred I do drop my card in and leave it to upload. I will add I’m using Lightroom CC and not classic so all my pics go to the cloud. I think what your referring to would be the classic where all your images are on your computer.

It's the same with any public figure. Take lots of pictures and pick the one you want to use. That one of the reasons most cameras shoot many frames per second.

I shot a lot of events, including speakers. Some speakers you could take 3 or 4 shots and everything was fine. Other speakers contorted their faces into weird expressions while speaking. And having a photo of a guy behind a podium with his mouth closed looks pretty dull. There were two guys I encountered frequently for whom I had to take 100 or more shots to get one good one. I mashed the release at a high frame rate for 5 second bursts.

My shots were used for PR purposes so they had to look good. If I wanted goofy expressions I could have done it with 3 or 4 shots.

Your first sentence surely means that there there would not be any speakers left?

Another example of what good portrait photography is all about. Carefully plan your shot so that you capture the image just the way you pre-visualized it.....😠

Of course you should...but it’s not an option in this scenario.
“Turn your head a little to the lift, Mr. President. Chin up...no, too much, now look right at the top of my head...”
Don’t see that happening😊

Same reason many people shoot burst mode with wildlife or sports. Trying to get that "perfect" shot. By the time you press the shutter button, the "perfect" shot is gone.

Maybe they're trying to get an image of him not lying. Good luck with that.

The Fake News has no need for the truth so they wouldn't be trying that.

I would not waste the time to get just one picture of him.
