They are also not located in Maine, last I saw was Brooklyn NY
---------------imho, don't deal with ABE'S-----------
As a general rule, I avoid businesses that have taken names that place them in the front of the phone book listings. AAA Plumbing, A-1 Roofing, Abe's of Maine. It 's often a ploy to get more business fast, from people who don't know any better.

The only difference between the USA version and the International version is the warranty and maybe the battery charger plug. Don't even think of buying an International Nikon. Default menu language may be different too.
Buying from Abe's? - That's a different story!!!
With regard to the 'default menu language' issue-it doesn't really matter what the default language is because the cameras have all the languages programmed in. It's just a matter of selecting the one you want to use.
You asked two questions. One about Abe’s and one about gray market. Abe’s is notorious on this site. Suggest you use the search function. Gray market is a separate issue. Which also can be answered easily with a search. Gray May be ok, but Abe’s....not so much.

It has a warranty that is not honored in the US, and if Nikon, it won't be repairable at all, even if you are willing to pay. Grey market is gear that is imported using non-authorized channels, bypassing the authorized ones.
This is not the same as counterfeit product that may be made in the same factory and purchased off the black market.
I assume Nikon will only ship to authorized dealers.
Does anyone know how grey market cameras are getting outside the authorized dealer community?
They are simply purchased from Non US dealers , you can buy one or a bunch then sell them.
Remember these are all the same Nikon made cameras with the exception of some localizations like Language and plugs for chargers but without NIKON USA's Warranty and service guarantee. (which adds to the price of the basic camera) That's why they are cheaper, no warranty.
Frankly, there should really be a global warranty, the are all Nikon Cameras. Nikon deserves to be paid for the value of the warranty, but they should Just make it the same everywhere. But Nikon USA, is separate from Nikon Europe or Nikon Asia. It is bookkeeping.
