I got too close to the ocean a few days ago and killed my D5600. I can get a like new for $380, but am interested in ideas to replace it with another Nikon cropped sensor that has better features. I don't want to change from cropped because I have the lenses that I need and don't want to replace them.

..D7500. Very capable camera. I'm guessing here that you just want something different since your previous D5600 body has MONSTER capabilities and a flippy screen!!
~ My pea brain says move to the D7500 because of the flippy screen (I have a D5200 along with a D7000 and D7100. LOVE the flippy screen on my D5200!!) and other features (pop up flash for awesome flash fill daylight people pics!!) that are different but probably second nature to you coming from the D5600!
JMHO...

Three choices: Replace the 5600 - Move to the 7500 - go first class with the 500

I feel your pain. I've lost a couple cameras like that. Then I got smart and bought a waterproof for any water days. The 5600 is a nice camera and if you bought it for the articulating (flippy) screen, then stick with the 5000 series. I have a D5000 specifically for the view screen.
But the 7000 series is an upgrade and the D500 is a huge upgrade, but you loose the articulating screen. I have a D500 for wildlife and it's outstanding. You just have to decide what you can live without. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome. Move to the D500 if the flip-screen is not too important.

It is if you can afford it.

On B&H the Nikon D500 with tilt touch screen is 1500$ New + Tax, the D7500 is 896$ +tax

Yes, a moveable back screen. But just up and down a few degrees. Nothing like the fully articulated screen on the 5000 series. (and I think the 7500, not sure). But it is a touch screen, some people like it some don't. I'm learning to. Lots of other pro's for the D500. 10 FPS. Very deep buffer. Same auto focus as the D850, the best in the Nikon SLR line-up. The 500 is great for bird photography, especially in flight bird photography.

... I agree with you on the D500 💯!! Great camera! However, I don't know about the OP, but I don't personally need anymore capability than what my D7100 provides. I believe that the sensor/image processor/focus capability is the same on the D500 as the D7500. $$$ more for the D500 as mrpentaxk5ii points out!

Sorry, forgot to do "quote reply"..... This is in refperence to Retired CPO.

Edit: D500 has a better autofocus sensor module.
