Science, medicine, politics, immunology, emergency preparedness, the economy- all very complex matters, especially when a country or society is confronted with a pandemic. It's important for everyone to keep abreast of the situation. So...what can we do?

As a kid, many times I would come home from school, play or some activity with a problem, a conflict, an issue or a complaint. I was sometimes perplexed, angry, upset, and nobody seemed to have a solution. And...after the yelling and arguing, my grandmother would interrupt and say "AS LONG AS YOU HAVE YOU HEALTH...THERE WILL BE A WAY"! That simple philosophy stuck with me to this day.

This epidemic is gonna cause inconvenience, disappointment, consternation, some financial loss, and is gonna interrupt many aspects of our lives for a while. No street photography in crowded places, event cancellations, professional assignments postponed, vacations put off, no school for a while and some folks are gonna be quarantined and some will suffer financially. All bad- but nothing when compared to becoming seriously ill, suffering long terms affects or complications or infecting others by not observing all the precautions, intensifying the hygiene as prescribed and curtailing certain activities. Following the protocols, helping those who are frail or most vulnerable and just making do and putting up with the drill until this wave of contagion is over, is a small price to pay.

Sadly, some people are gonna get mildly ill, others may become seriously or critically sick and some will die. Hopefully, some of this can be mitigated, prevented and minimized.

As long as you have your health you can soon resume life and make up for the lost time and money.

Take good care of yourselves, those who are close to you and your community.

Then you plan accordingly for the larger population. This is not a rational response to the question. You don't build a city to house 10,000,000 people and not the infrastructure to support it - hospitals, water, power, sewer, neighborhood services like restaurants, supermarkets police, fire, sanitation, etc. It doesn't take a genius to understand that you need to need to be strategic, not purely tactical in situations like this.

The more likely scenario is the current administration was caught with it's drawers at it's knees. Not to mention the behavior of the past 3 yrs where all the cuts went to services like the NIH, CDC, and other agencies that could have been providing the correct advice and guidance to be in a better position to respond, and some leadership that had respect for science and scientists. Don't get me started . . .

Always the voice of reason. I think I would have liked your Grandmother.

You do realize this is a new strain right? How could they have the test for it? China only recently sent us samples to make tests from.

I wouldn’t doubt China already has a vaccine too.

Not hearing much about protests and riots in China and Hong Kong any more are you? Hmmm.

Just heard PM’s wife from Canada infected. Guess we know this wasnt developed in Canada.

Just my opinions...

In fact the NIH budget has increased, despite scuttlebut to the contrary.

While there was an increase in the 2020 budget, trump actually sought a significant decrease. His record of supporting science is not good. One can argue or spend a few minutes researching. His proposed cuts in the 2021 budget for CDC are no secret.

Just read that China and South Korea are reporting more recoveries than new cases. Hopefully this trend will continue around the world.

It appears that severe cases are a small percentage.

I second that. I live in rural area, so I can get out and take all the pictures I want. The only thing stopping me is the weather. Today here it very winded and raining.

What is getting out of hand is the lack of a professional national government.
Yesterday one of our star newcomer ladies in congress asked our HHS leaders in
charge of our virus problem how much a coronavirus test cost. And where is it
available. And did they know their was a law that it could be paid for my the
government. None of them knew the cost etc. etc.
The dems hate or love them have drafted a bill and stuck it in the Senate face
to cover testing and help with transitional costs for the future with closings
everywhere. Republicans are not clear on what they support and when.
The congo is ahead of us on testing. South Korea has done thousands of
tests. Our leader says everything on testing is going fine. What testing??
This lack of testing is putting us on the end of the line.
Is the country that built the Empire State Building in a year?

Get serious; how many test kits are ready for the PBR virus which comes next year ? Stay inside, follow the example of your mentor Nan, and drink more Goose....you will feel better.

Listen, here it is in a nut shell and i won’t get political... in the USA most businesses have gone overseas for cheaper wages... I hear no antibiotics are even made in this country let alone testing reagents for this new corona virus. The USA was one of the last places for this virus to show up... how do you test for a new virus you ask? You have to get the DNA sequence or actual sample of the virus from China. We have gotten that recently and now are trying to come up with test kits, anti-virus medications etc and guess what? We don’t make that stuff anymore.

This corona virus just spotlights the danger of farming out all our businesses to others...

Where is the outrage about the 20,000 flu deaths this season? That's something we should have a better handle on. But since nobody is seeing it every day on tv or on their cell phones, nobody cares???

20,000 deaths ignored, 41 deaths is cause to panic
