You've probably heard that hand sanitizer is basically unavailable. Fortunately, we have plenty on hand in the house. Of course, we also have soap and water, so we don't use that much sanitizer. From what I've heard, using soap and water is the preferred method of washing your hands. I'm sure we've all seen people leaving a rest room without washing their hands and also those who give their hands a quick rinse, rather than actually washing them.

Another important practice is keeping your hands away from your face. Of course, all these precautions assume that you have dangerous bacteria on your hands. Good luck staying healthy, everyone!

As for the shortage of hand sanitizer, make your own.

We have the same problem with panic buying over here in the UK. What the fools don't realise that if they have all the sanitiser in their home, denying it to others, then the people left without will be more likely to have the virus on their hands and pass it onto the hoarders anyway. If, for instance, I bought up all the car windscreen wipers then I'd increase the risk of other drivers crashing into me because they couldn't see clearly through their windscreens. As things stand at the moment people are more likely to be killed or seriously injured by driving to the supermarkets to overbuy stuff. Toilet tissue is also being cleared from the shelves. Why?

Funny - sort of. I bet just "washing" your hands with rubbing alcohol would kill most bacteria, but it would be rough on your hands.

Yes, we are an easily-frightened, selfish bunch. I wonder what else people will start hoarding. Canned food?

And the threat everybody is quaking about is a virus, that apparently is unaffected by "antibacterial" hand sanitizers.

News out of China says the virus has mutated into a more deadlier type L virus and is more contagious.

Sorry Jer, but I thought that was kind of funny. You see, when I was just a kid my dad taught me not to pee on my hands. It seems kind of silly that a guy feels he must wash his hands after holding his ding-a-ling to take a whiz but 5 minutes later thinks nothing of asking his wife or girlfriend to take it in her mouth.

Ummm...the need to do better math. Finished product should be above 60% alcohol (most use ethanol, not isopropyl alcohol).

If you add 0.66 cups of 91% alcohol, you are adding just a tidge over 0.6 cups of pure alcohol. 0.66 cups 91% alcohol added to 1 cup alo vera has a total volume of 1.66 cups. 0.6 cups alcohol divided by the total volume (1.66 cups) is 0.36, or 36% alcohol. Not enough to be effective.

Our local Costco had a sign 2 days ago about the items that are out of supply. Long list, all can goods, paper towels, etc. were sold out. I,ve read news reports about people who don't support guns for any reason, are trying to buy a gun to protect their supply of TP.

Of course they do. We all protect what's most important to us. If it takes a gun to protect your stash of TP, well you just do what you gotta do.

I totally agree. Maybe this will be eye-opener for some of the anti-gunners.

All I do is wash my hands with a bar of soap or just rinse my hands. People go overboard trying to sanitize.

Soap actually breaks down the fatty envelope on coronavirus, making them non-infectious. Plus it helps remove foreign matter from your skin. No real need for hand sanitizer. It's meant to be used if soap and water are not available, not as a primary disinfectant.
